Their account is not throttled - just phoned and asked them about their shaping with regards to torrents, they say they don't. Only thing they do limit is the number of TCP streams to 40 (in the terms and conditions - 5.6). This would effectively limit the number of users that can be on the internet at one time - i.e. if there are 40 people loading a web page at the same time. This does not apply to torrent connections. Fine for home use!

Well so far it's OK. My Afrihost Capped account is definitely better, but I've tried other Uncapped accounts and so far I would say it's definitely tops for the price!
The ping isn't the best to international, so I wouldn't recommend it for gaming, nor is it best for streaming video - i.e. YouTube. I tried torrents and they are quite slow.
Everything else is good though. I'm getting a good download speed from http/ftp and browsing is very good.
I am on 384k line, but would recommend the 1Mbps it you like watching YouTube videos or streaming audio and don't mind spending a bit extra. For now I will stay a Cybersmart customer!

I had a 1mb line with a 15gig Niterider account Cybersmart. Downloaded about 70gigs(Torrents) a month between 1am to 8am.
Switched to the uncapped account and all I can say is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!
I now get only 5kB/s at night and occasionally full speed during the day. I've only had uncapped for a week but I've cancelled my Cybersmart account already.
It's as I feared. Strange that the offer was limited to the first 1000 customers but it is still up. Struggling to reach a mere 1000 or just a marketing ploy??
Oh come on, this has been covered ad nauseum. You can choose not to take the router when you order. Then you don't pay the setup fee cos guess what, you're setting up your own. Wow, that was complicated.
I've done this a few times already, when setting up friends / family, so I'm not just assuming here.
Didn't I post earlier in the thread that I called them and they didn't say it was a limited offer? In fact, the guy I spoke to advised me to wait till the new month, which he wouldn't have done if it was limited. Anyway, the fewer ppl sign up, the less load on my bandwidth. Win-win.
This is a worry. Luckily I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Still, could be teething issues. Will wait and see, in the meantime, I have enough bandwidth to keep me going. Thanks for updating us. And for being a guinea pig.
I took the plunge and went for the new advertised uncapped account and what a dissaster..
I'm currently on a 1M linespeed but only manages around 3Kb speed. what a joke. Stay away!!

It's time for me to leave CS - I'll keep my line with them due to fear of cancellation but I would prefer to be with a company that has good customer service (If it wasn't for Laurie this company would have gone under already) and presence on this forum.
