Default How to Share Internet With ADSL Modem

I am trying to share an ADSL connection with a D-Link DSL-300T with a 8 port Asus 10/100 hub. I can not for the life of me figure out how to share the internet correctly.

I am using a crossover Lan cable from the ADSL modem to the hub and two straight cables to the 2 Pc's from the hub.

I have set the ADSL modem to bridge mode and have disabled the ADSL modems DHCP server. If one Pc connects the other Pc gets disconnected from the internet and vise verse.

    What am I doing wrong?

tl:dr I want to use a ADSL connection simultaneously on two Pc's using a ADSL modem and a hub.

Each Pc is setup like this with the other Pc using the IP address 192.168.1.3

This is my setup, I don't have a hub but wireless router, but maybe the same applies:

telephone line to tenda adsl modem>>> lan cable from tenda router to wan port on tp-link router >>> lan cables from tplink router to pc and playstation and wireless signal for laptops.

    Default settings on adsl modem.

You making something very simple complicated.

Plug everything into the hub. Don't use WAN Ports.

Setup a pppoe connection on the ADSL modem using its web interface. This must have your ADSL username and password.

Enable DHCP on the ADSL modem.

Set your PC to automatically detect, not static IPs as you have in the picture. No dailup or any other connection on the PC.

In that last dlink picture, you want pppoe, not bridge

There are no "WAN Ports" I tried the above and I kept getting IP conflicts for some reason when both Pc's were told to automatically obtain IP's for some reason the ADSL modem gives each Pc the international IP for my account instead of a Lan IP.

Tried this, got the problem above.

I was able to have the power adapter for my router tested and it turns out it was broken, so I got a Ellies adapter from Incredible Corruption for R130 and now I'm using the router again.

Thanks though to everyone for the help.

Check your routers wireless/lan client log or dhcp log to see what ip's have been leased. Very weird that it assigns two seperate machines the same IP unless only one ip has been given for assignment

The ADSL modem doesn't keep any logs or anything it's very simple doesn't have a firewall either.

Try setup the dhcp from scratch again, else just manually assign the ip's on the same subnet as the router. Making the router the default gateway

Make sure you're not using the same static address for all your PCs or a combination of static and assigned addresses where assigned addresses might overlap your static ones.

Simple solution is to make everything automatic

Adding to this, when you set up the DHCP, make sure that you have a wide enough range as well. And try something other than their defaults - E.g. start IP of 192.168.1.10 end IP 192.168.1.100.

I had a problem recently where the router was supposed to dish out a wide range of IPs (default settings) but somehow also allowed two PC's on, the others got IP conflict issues. First time in my life that I had seen that happen, but maybe it isn't only me that is cursed with that issue

Thanks for the suggestions guys but as I've said above I've gotten my router to work again, so if I ever need to use the ADSL modem again I'll look for this thread, thanks again
