Noob question - speed test.net

Hi,

I have Quite a basic question. I did a speed test via speedtest.net and these were the results.

Download: 0.68Mbps
Upload: 0.41Mbps
Ping: 71ms

I have a 1MB uncapped and Unshaped line with Cybersmart. How would you rate this result?

Also would anyone care to explain what ping is? Is it related more for gaming? I use the line to download things like torrents so should I be concerned with the ping?

for local ping its fine
for gaming in a local server its 100%
but if u game on int. servers i will say keep it under the 300ping range

i dont know how cybersmart is with torrent,but i am with mweb..
in the day it is about 35k/s
and at around 10pm+ it goes around 80kb/s
but after 12 it goes full 95-105kb/s

heres my speed test 1mbps,data from mweb,line from telkom

Download Speed: 931 kbps (116.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 406 kbps (50.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 24 ms

speedtests & ping tests are usually pretty useless on their own, unless your results are exceptionally good - which they're not.
