MacBook Pro RAM from sybaritic

Hi I'm the proud owner of a 13" MacBook Pro 5.5 2009 model.
I wanna upgrade to 8gigs ram.

I found a post on the Forum where someone purchased 4gig RAM from sybaritic
& were happy but now I can't find that post :(

How is their memory?
They said they don't do refunds so I need to be sure it's gonna work.
Anyone have experience with them?

Where else can I purchase RAM besides apple istore?

Any shop that sells RAM... Seriously. Can't speak for Sybaritic but I replaced mine with Transcend no worries.
 
Most of the shops only sell 1333mhz, mine uses 1066mhz
Will it under lock itself?
I'm concerned about different latency. So I'd like to get "apple
Approved" RAM

Yep, Core 2 Duo... Your RAM needs to be DDR3 1066, tho if you get 1333 it'll just clock it back.

I would be interested if they have that RAM, "22 August, 2010". DDR3-1066 SODIMM is scarce in SA.

Not true. I've had 2008 MBPs accepting DDR3-1333 but 2010 MBPs not. Your suggestion should only really be applied to PCs.

My core2duo macbook aluminium 2008 was very happy with 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM, any brand that I tried worked. However, I have had issues with the older (2006/2007) ddr2 machines if they shipped with ddr2-667 they didn't like ddr2-800, you had to have one of each. Its got something to do with the memory controller not able to "downgrade" to 667, if you have 2 x 800MHz, so by putting one of 667 and 800 in, it forced the machine to accept the faster ram at a slower speed (works on lowest common denominator)
So, I would try the DDR3-1333, if it doesn't work then try with just one of each. If that works, then you have the same problem.

Dunno man, I've got experience with both 2008 and 2010 Core2 Duo's (15" and 13" respectively) and it didn't work in the 2010 one. This was just last week. 2 x Kingston Value 4GB DDR3-1333...

There's actually no difference between 1066 and 1333mhz RAM, it's just the speed it is rated at. The motherboard will clock it appropriately.

Hey Hey

I have some Kingston 1333Mhz RAM here... and a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro... and it does not like it... OSX hangs before desktop and Windows gets to desktop then locks-up completely. Memory passes memtest, both sticks, but it just does not work in the Mac. Either stick onits own, or mixed with the older RAM in either socket... no dice, no go.

Will be trying another brand of 1333 maybe and trying to order 1066 RAM...
 
That sucks, haven't had that happen to me. Well Kingston RAM has that lifetime warranty, right? But I don't know if your shop will honour it.

Sucky indeed. RAM can be returned, small re-packaging fee, so no problem... just better to find guaranteed Mac friendly RAM. Apple ZA wanted R1800 for 2 x 4 GBs :wtf:.
 
There's no difference between a Mac and a PC. They use motherboards from Intel. That "Mac friendly" RAM is regular RAM.
