Thread: Rules changed for creating US account?

Default Rules changed for creating US account?

Just a quick one. Did anyone lately create an US iTunes account successfully? My buddy says they keep on telling him to contact iTunes directly. I've created mine a while back without hiccups. Did something change?

Nothing I know of... Created two US Store accounts last week.
What e-mail address did your friend use and was it a genuine US address and contact number?

I believe so. Got his info from fake name generator.

I've had issues with .co.za mail addresses so I use a .com one now. Next tip is to Google a Holiday Inn or some other hotel in New Hampshire (one of the states with no sales tax), get the address and contact number and use them when you register the account.
PS. Remember, he needs to select "None" when asked for payment method... Other than that he should be good to go.

I had a weird issue when I initially set mine up about 2 months ago. Kept getting "Contact iTunes Support" everytime I tried to register. Eventually, I decided to try on a different computer and I switched from my Telkom ISP account to IS, and then it worked fine (using the exact same details as I tried 20 minutes before). So, not sure if it was Telkom (perhaps it was going through some kind of proxy that Apple was detecting), or if it was some flag that was cached in a browser cookie, but it's worth a try. * shrug *

I also got the "Contact iTunes Support" until I used "123" as the first 3 digits of the phone number. Used the address of some hotel I found using tripadvisor website.

Try using a phone number that is not relating to the address you used and let us know if it worked.

Mind sharing how you did that? I have an SA account, would suck having to create a whole new one just to get the extras..

I managed to create a US account over the weekend, so I don't think it has been blocked...
