Default 4S Battery fail : tips please!

I did a quick search for a thread on this, but my noobie eyes didnt find what I was looking for.

I'm looking for tips and tricks to keep my battery going. I unplugged from a full night charging at 9:30am this morning and my phone is as dead as disco at 16:09. That can't be right surely? Usually it lasts at LEAST until 18:00/18:30ish.

I try keep my apps closed as much as I can remember and I dl'd one of those bs battery apps (complete hoax I'm sure but desperate times etc).

It's becoming beyond frustrating. I cant even go out at night confident in the knowledge that I will know my train times to get home I realise these are first world problems, but still

    Hi

    I had the same problem.

Disable most location services you do not use.
Disable system location services as well. I can't recall which specific ones I disabled. Play around.

Most importantly, disable wifi sync with iTunes. This was the biggest problem.

    Then do a hard reset.

    Mine worked fine thereafter.

    Hope it helps.

What I've picked up is that if there is bad signal, the iPhone tries to compensate for it by increasing the signal. Also jumping between EDGE / 3G eats up battery, but there a few things you can do:

    1. Go to Settings --> Location Services. Scroll to the bottom. There is an option for System Services. Switch off those that are not needed. I keep Traffic and Compass calibration on.
    2. Update firmware.
    3. Disable 3G
    4. Set you lock screen time shorter (my wife was complaining about her iPad dying, until we figured out the auto lock was set to NEVER)
    5. Stop playing Angry birds during meetings.
    6. Switch off push email

    Bonus:

    7. Switch off Siri if you don't use it otherwise, switch off the Raise to Speak option.

battery life is disappointing on the 4s, for me ,turning off location services and push emails made a slight improvement. i get a full day with light use. you just need to play around with your settings and see what works best.

after the firmware upgrade I did and disabled push services I get 2 to 2 and half days light usage with it and a day and a half heavy usage.
