Iburst 2mb for R1299

Why is Iburst modems so expensive? You can get a 3G 7.2mbsp modem @ R399.00 once off and includes 100meg of data per month x 12 months? Is it because Iburst as a technology is dead and there is no economy of scale in producing the modems for it?

that's a pitty.

I really want to up to a 2mb modem, what is the cheapest way of doing so?

I can't see a contract that includes it, I can only find the hardware itself which goes for over 4k.

I was thinking about that the other day, im guessing since they only have one company making the hardware (Kyocera i think) theres no competition

PM MEL if you realy want to get the 2MB modem on a contract they have deals not mention on the site where you can get the 2MB on a contract - on the site they only have it on the uncapped +

They don't tell you on the website, but you can "upgrade" the included modem on any package.
So, for example, it is possible to pay in a bit more per month and get a 2Mbps modem on the Pro 10 package instead of the USB modem.
