Hate footy but had to have a look just for the sake of it - big difference eh! Hope they get around to enabling it for normal viewing.

We are working on them over at the DSTV forum to at least put one of the MM magic channels over onto widescreen with the introduction of 5.1 sound later this year or at least another movie channel with only widescreen content. Hope they fall for it... I don't think they realised how many widescreen tvs there are already out there.
 
Is it in REAL Widescreen or have they just letterboxed it?

Next match is on at 17:50 so will have a look then.

If they do finally enable Widescreen I will be so happy :) Now to just get them to start broadcasting HDTV.
 
SS7 has a caption at the top saying "Widescreen" - but my widescreen TV still sees it as 4:3 - (squashed) anyone actually seen it in widescreen yet?

It works fine for me - full wide screen on a 16:9 TV. Are the settings on your decoder set to output in 16:9 or 4:3. The settings can be adjusted in the menu.

...and yes, its true widescreen, not letterboxed.
 
Yep I checked at 17:50 today and watching it on our HDTV that upscales it looks amazing.

Pitty soccer is such a stupid sport :(

Anyway was fun for 3min. Now if only Multichoice will bring out channels in Widescreen.

Where? please tel me where - I have looked everywhere and could not find any reference to 16:9 on the stupid dualview decoder.

I can only give you help for my decoder model (Dual view) but it might help - Menu, 7(Advanced options), 4(TV Installation), 1(TV installation for tv 1), Aspect Ratio. . . .
 
Have I not set the settings properly or are we meant to see the score and SS7 caption where they would be on a normal view, ie not on the edge of the screen.
 
seems like its that way or else it would mess up the setup for the "regular" sized viewers... had a ROFL of a time explaining to my wife what widescreen was... :rolleyes:
 
well, any normal broadcast on a widescreen looks kinda "streched", so a proper 16:9 signal will kinda add almost half of your normal viewing screen to the edges in widescreen.

its easy to see the difference when you switch to SS3 and then SS7 during a small pause in the game, you miss out on items on the edges which are visible on the widescreen broadcast.

its just nice to see things normal and not streched. ;)
 
It almost looks like a 1/4 to 1/2 a screen is added. But are the SS7 logo and score caption meant to be on the edges of the screen?
