Boerewors problem

I had this boerewors roll, from hereonin (or is it "here on in"? hereonin looks too much like heroin) referred to as a "boerie" and it was one of those boeries where the condom doesn't break when you bite into it and the filling just comes out while the condom remains intact. I hate those boeries. Why does that happen? Is it the ingredients or the way it was cooked or both? How can we identify these boeries before we buy them?

They are artificial sausage casings instead of beef intestine casings. They usually have a sheen to them in the light...

No matter how tempted I am, I refrain from buying boerie rolls. They are generally overpriced and if they are not, they sell so quickly that the griller has to under-cook them to keep up with demand.

Try and bend, or ask for it to be bent, before you buy. If it breaks immediately, it is overcooked. If it bends about halfway and then splits, then it is perfect. If it doesn't split, it is probably still raw or has a casing similar to the boerie you just ate.
