8ta internet phone as modem problems

I don't know if I am missing something simple, but I have taken up the R149 promotion and have been trying to use my Nokia E7 as a modem for the PC. It connects at 3.5G and everything and initially it runs smoothly, but as soon as it has to download a piece of data larger that 700KB or 800KB or so, it stops and the line is unresponsive, necessitating me having to redial. This means I can't watch Youtube, download larger email attachments etc, which renders it useless.

Am I missing something obvious? Are there other people who have been having problems?

I have tested with MTN and there are no similar problems. The problem must lie with 8ta.

Never seen this problem with 8ta. It must be your PC configuration.

I thought about that too, but like I said, I have no similar problems with MTN. I connect both with the Nokia software.

Second thought, maybe you have general network instability (typical to 8ta), but you didn't notice that?
Check with ping to telkom.com or mybroadband.co.za by example. Do you have stable pings? Also tracert to these sites and your download sites (few times) and note irregularities. Post your notes here.
