Thread: Cancel Contract Notice?

  1. #1

    Default Cancel Contract Notice?

I've got a contract expiring 23rd October - so just over 2 months.

How much notice do I need to give them in order to cancel? 1 month? Or can I phone in now to put it on the system?
I assume due to billing in arrears, I'll receive my last bill end November?

    Thanks!

As far as I know you need to give them 30 days' notice.

Hello Dolby. You may contact them now and they can load a future cancellation. If line expires 23rd October it will be loaded for 30th November. Last bill will therefore be recieved in December for any arrear usage etc. My advice also do it in writing and keep your proof of fax.

    Ockie.

Is it not advisable to do it over the phone?

My advice is to send the signed letter + ID via fax and keep the transmission slip. You may also visit your closest Vodacom Shop if your line is out of contract and want to convert to prepaid. They can do the migration directly on the system.

Ask them for their email address then should you prefer that. I am used to using fax for these kind of things. Up to you.

I would prefer email myself, but have learnt from experience (with various govt departments and an attorney) that fax can sometimes be better. For some very weird reason, emails seem to be lost or sucked into a black hole - never to return

Also with email, make sure that you have tracking turned on, so that you have proof or delivery and/or read notice.

E-mailed customercare@vodacom.co.za yesterday with my cancelation notice including ID scan - received a message back requesting ID no, Address and Bank and type of account for verifcation purposes. A while later after I sent this info got an email back from them with a reference no and advising the account will be terminated end August 2012. (Contract expired 12 July already).
