Afriforum donates R100K to Outa

According to Kriel, the authorities have a misconception that they can get away with the misappropriation of public money – as is the case with the exorbitantly high e-tolling collection costs – because they believe civil society does not have the resources to call government to account in court.

Sad when your government are the crooks hey.

Regardless of the outcome I am never paying etolls.

Well done #OUTA, donating such an amount is certainly not easy but it looks like they would gladly do it again if the court case goes even further (how, i have no clue :p).

I will be doing my part and giving R10.

Just did the SMS thing and donated R10. Everyone should do it, at the end of the day, it could save us all a sh*tload of money...

They only get about R5 out of that sms campaign.

Rather donate directly via EFT.

Ahh, good point, i don't want to be giving someone who doesn't deserve the money in anycase.

EFT it is :)

Hopefully the DA & FF also support them financially.

Persons wishing to make a contribution towards OUTA’s legal costs can do so directly via OUTA’s website

Yes via EFT.

or could donate R10 via AfriForum’s SMS line

NO NO NO, do not be fooled by SMS campaigns!!!

R10??? I've been donating R550 every month since the campaign started. ;)
That's what I would have paid in Toll Fees.
Come on Guys, I'm glad you are getting on board, but please consider making a serious donation!
What is R10 compared to the R10 Million legal bill? :p
We need to kill this thing NOW once and for all... for the sake of all future e-tolling projects being considered.
That is why people in other provinces should also consider donating.
This is not just about Gauteng.
This is about letting the Government know that they can shove their e-toll plans for ALL of South Africa forever! :D

That and in reality Gordhan is attempting to abuse the ConCourt in the hopes of obtaining an etrolling ruling that gives the cANCer party a green light to do whatever it wants without any future oversight from the judiciary. I wonder if Gordhan realises that is what he is doing or is just blinded by his peers within the ruling party.

In the unlikely event that the ConCourt judges fall for this or Moegoe Moegoe somehow vetoes them, it will be a turning point where one can say the country is definitely not a democracy any more.

Fully agree! This case has become about more than just e-tolling in Gauteng. The government is trying to make it about whether the courts have the right to interfere with Government Policy Decisions! Of course they do! The Government needs to realise that they cannot just ram any policy through without oversight!

So it's all about the precedent it would set if Govt won the court case huh? Wasn't that why the DA wanted to get involved?

The Constitutional Court is the highest court of the country, any precedent set in ConCourt cannot be overruled by lower courts.

I hope that the ConCourt judges are capable of upholding The Constitution without needing a "friendly helping hand". The DA would do better to match AfriForum's donation towards OUTA's legal expenses.
