Does'nt the emergency numbers always work even if you dont have airtime or even Cell c signal?

More news! Since yesterday the Cell C 140 number has been 'experiencing high call volumes'...So I can't get through to anyone.
I have sent an email to them as per the address on the message on 140. Still nothing, will try their facebook page.
    Poor service....

Just ask the MyBB rep? PM him

They ALWAYS say that. You just have to stay on hold

One would have though after posting here, posting 3 times on their FB page, sent the Cell C rep a PM and sending emails to two different email addresses I would have had a response!

I take my hat off to Cell C, they have now surpassed ABSA's dismal service, no mean feat!

In the past I have complained about Vodacom, Virgin Mobile and MTN on this forum and have always had a response from the guys and had the problems rectifies but it looks like Cell C is only for 'themselves...!'

Well if I have ever seen a bitter old geyser... You're the exact stereotype of squidward OP.

Hey let's take a phone along on my bike trip, so that I can call someone if I prang my bike and face against a tree. Oh I haven't actually used the SIM card in a long time, but what the hell it should just work right, I'm not going to actually try to make a call just to be safe and double check that it works ???! I mean if things go south and I cannot make a call it will help me a great deal if I can rage at the USELESS SERVICE PROVIDER !

When things don't work out the way we want it to, why don't we ever start looking at ourselves and figure out what we could have done to prevent said scenario ?

The fact of the matter, unwind, is that CellC has done more to shake up the local mobile market than the other SP's who are perfectly happy to just sit back and overcharge us. You better prepare yourself for some more shocking service at VC/MTN/younameit because I reckon you might just be a person who attracts it.

Before you wet your panties as it appears you are that kind of girl, the SIM was in fact used a couple of weeks back when I used it to send an SMS. I check the phone when I charge it, it shows signal and I always check my balance, which always comes back as positive and gave no indication of a termination date. Now go and play with your dolls and leave the adults alone...

The Cell_C rep does not respond immediately, but he will get back to you. Just be patient.

On a different note- is this number prepaid? I am sure that sending an SMS does not qualify to keep your number as active, only voice calls within 90 days should... But it is best to confirm with Cell C and the call centre.

FYI- I called the call centre right now, got through to an agent in 10 seconds.

EDIT: Spoke to them re airtime expiration. The periods vary according to the value of airtime purchased eg R5 airtime expires after 14 days. Once expired, you can re-activate by purchasing more airtime or calling them on 140 to extend the airtime window.

Found this info out in 5 mins from their call centre.

Thanks, well I finally got through to someone, and they have said the SIM is not blocked/lost/terminated etc. So from posting here, on FB and sending emails someone has at least sorted this out. Finally. So all my moaning finally got the issue resolved.
