Sigh, I hate being ripped off by restaurants, at least we get to vote with our feet and money.
Won't be surprised to see "taste of India" closed down soon.
Not only are their prices about 15% higher than shown on their website (is this even legal?), we are in 2012 people, update your website and keep your prices accurate ffs, but they have shrunk the portion size to a joke.

Purchased 4 take away dishes to share, cost of R380 with naan bread, so not cheap, and then felt embarrassed sharing the food with my guests as there were between 6 - 7 pieces of meat in each serving. I mean 6 pieces of chicken isn't even one chicken breast and for the cost of over R80 a portion, come on, really.

Gave them the benefit of the doubt and called them, but the manager was like these are the instructions from the “owner” and things have gone up.

Open to recommendations if you have for good curry JHB North areas…

I've eaten at the branch in Blouberg once. Nothing to write home about, Woolworths makes tastier Indian microwave meals.

This one?

Is the menu up-to-date?

Any special offers if I go, psssst bob sent me?
Looks like will be there soon unlees anyone has something closer?

Curry palace is just epic. It looks dodgy, but it's my favorite curry place. The waiters are damn good too if you decide to eat there. My recommendation is a chicken vindeloo with butter naan bread.

Other option is the Bombay palace in olive dale, the saints centre

Prices look about right. A main costs you in the R70 region. Very good food. Don't bother trying to grab some sitdown Friday evening without booking.

Awesome...Friday I usually cook at home, might give them a bash on Sunday after squash - that normally gets the appetite going

Does anyone know a decent Indian place in/around Helderberg area? The missus has her 'special appetites' that must be sated.

I find most indian restaurants expensive.

Fordsburg is not too bad though, and there are a lot of places to choose from.

thats how i compare my prices ...i always prefer the pakistani and indian owned resturants when it comes to taste

if you want the experience you pay the price ..

i think a butter chicken with naan is like 70 at this one place where as bukhara is 133
