Ok, so i have a computer running ubuntu and being used as a NAS drive with shared folder, i would like to know if it is possible to add a USB hard drive to either make it like an add on storage for the shared files or make ubuntu think that the USB hard drive is part of its hard drive

Yes you can do it.

Plug in your drive and let it mount. Open up a terminal and type: sudo nautilus

In Nautilus navigate to your drive and create a new Folder, right click on the folder and set the permissions. Sharing can also be set here.

Done.
