Thread: 5.1 headphone question.

  1. #1

    Default 5.1 headphone question.

    Hello everyone,

I recently bought myself a pair of Cooler Master Storm Sirus headphones and been trying them out with some games. The problem im having is that there is an echo when switching them to 5.1. it sounds like im playing the game in a large empty room/hall.

Speaking and general soft sounds are ok, but when the action comes, it starts the echo... its especially bad in mw3.

all enviroment effects are off and i have set the headphones up in windows. ive spent hours playing with different options, with no luck.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Make sure that your sound output in Windows is set to 5.1, as well as in the games.

5.1 does have a kind of echo to it, which is why I never switch it on when playing music.
For this reason I prefer good stereo headphones and a nice sound card that can emulate 3D, and I think many people here would agree with me on this.

    Default 5.1 headphone question.

    Must be gamers.

Nothing I've heard beats quality 2 channel + sound card... And I've heard Kaves.

I've got a Roccat Kave and there's definitely no echo. The sound on the thing is amazing but I find it too heavy and it actually makes marks on my head after a gaming session (I'm bald ).

But yes, there definitely shouldn't be an echo.

well this sucks.. why would they make 5.1 headphones if they sound so bad?

You posted the same time as me. There shouldn't be an echo.

Have you tried playing games with normal headphones? Maybe if you hear the echo on there then it may be your soundcard or something in Windows. Otherwise I would ask for a refund on those headphones.

Well i see these headphones got editors choice on overclockers club, so the model looks to be really good quality product. So there is either something wrong with your software configuration, or they are not working as they should.

I'm Running sennheiser PC350's with an Asus Xonar Xense. They do sound "echoey" in gaming FPS mode only....

It used to work perfect with my stereo headphones. ive tried plugging the jacks in instead of the usb... same issue. when running around in an open area, its not to bad, but when i get in a room or there is an explosion the echo is overpowering.

could it be an option on my motherboard, maybe? got a pz68-ud3r or summing like that.

Proper HTRF 2 chanel headphone is so much better than 5.1. Multi-chanel headphones don't even have a time-delay between the arrival of sound at the ears depending on angle of the head to the source.

Listen to a binaural recording on a proper headphone rig and you'll grok the difference in a real hurry.

Poor design - they slapped that little screw bang in the middle of the headset. I take a tennis arm sweat band and put it around the headset - problem solved.

Not sounding too good. I will see if I can trade them in for something else.

Any recommendations other than the Kave's? How are the Tiamat's?
