R99 for 2GB mobile data and a modem

As tempting as what this offer is as I'm going to my Vodacom SP tomorrow to get a new data contract, being Autopage puts me off. Being dragged naked across a field of broken glass and molten lava will be less painful then doing business with Autopage again.

The second part of your reply makes sense ( I am trying to end an Autopage contract since July) but the first bit does not. Vodacom, contract? I can only assume CellC and 8ta don't work for you at all.

Vodacom is the only mobile provider that gives me anything close to a stable data connection where I live (I have tried everyone but Virgin). I can only imagine that there are many others.

Looks like a good deal. I'm weary about the 2-year commitment thought - don't want to be looking like a total idiot in 2014 when others are enjoying multi-meg packages on LTE at half the price

I'm also tired of 24 month contract offers being touted as "specials".

Yup, me too, I am actually really shocked that anyone would take a 24 month contract like that in the current climate, especially just after the Cell C 3G roaming announcement (384kbps or the faster speeds too?). Cell C coverage is looking pretty good and 8ta are not looking that bad either.

The extra R50 per month for going directly with Vodacom is absolutely worth it.

24 Month Contracts is the beginning of the end of any customer signing it... LTE is blooming in South Africa now, and I know for a fact that LTE will be 70% installed on the Vodacom network on all 3G sites by end of April 2013. I do not know of the other networks, but signing a 24 Month contract on Vodacom is a big no no... Best bet now is to make your contract a prepaid one and wait till April... Yes, you will pay more for data, but believe me, in the long run you are going to lose on a contract now... As for autopage... STAY AWAY!!!

(I do not have anything against autopage, but ye be warned)
