I have R205 WiFi router and 2gb monthly capped account.

3G on the router does not work and seems like no-one at vodacom knows why.

My router shows 3 connected devices (laptop, iPad and Samsung S3) and it shows on the
screen almost full 3g signal, but no internet access on any connected device.

When I switch my Samsung from WiFi to Mobile data, I get internet access (same location & spot) but
when I want to use my router.. No internet access.

Tried speaking to vodacom people and they don't know what the problem is.

I am paying for internet access via my R205 WiFi router and vodacom does not give me what I'm paying for.

Silly question...when you open up a browser on your laptop it should direct you to the Routers website. Havey you clicked connect there? What might be happening is your devices are connected to the router...but the router is not actually connected to the network?

Is there some sort of connection status on the router? i.e. does it show that it's connected and what the IP of the router is?

Hi Ockie & Morkhans,

Connection status on router is fine. Showing I"M connected to Vodacom 3G

Router config util in broswer showing Connected to Vodacom 3G (green light with almost full signal)

I have resetted the router back to factory defaults and still same problem. The LAN (devices connected on router) is working fine. The different devices can communnicate with each other. I can;t get any external traffic at all.
Can't be software related on the devices as I have a laptop, iPad and Samsung S3 connected to the router and all 3 devices
have same problem. - No internet, even thought the router diags software saying I am connected to Vodacom 3G.

When I change my Samsung S3 to "mobile data" (using sim card in phone, also vodacom) I have internet access.
The sim cards are different sizes, so I can't swop them to see if the problem is with the router or the sim card.

I am regretting my decision to sign a contract with vodacom, because of the low level of support I'm getting from vodacom.

I'm using a WiFi R205 router form vodacom (branded with vodacom logo)

You can see a pic of the WiFi router in this site: http://www.cellucity.co.za/index.html

When did this start?

Added: Seeing the same on my R205, have escalated.

i noticed it last night but was hoping it would be fixed in the morning.
not working in roodepoort and not working on parktown.

my internet is working fine with my samsung s3 simcard.

support guys told me this morning that he does not know what the problem is.

8 hours later - still no fix and still no feedback from support and i suppose i have to
keep on paying every month whether you provide the service or not?

just had a phone call from support.

apparently my router was allocated an IP address that was not allowed any http traffic.
he also said that there were lots of other people with the same problem.

he could not explain WHY my router was given that IP.

he could also not explain WHY it took them 'n whole day to realize that there's a problem
especially when there were LOTS of people who logged the same fault.

I am highly disgusted with vodacom right now. I did not sign a contract for you to give my
routers IP's that are not allowed any http traffic.

That is not what I'm paying for. One whole day of productivity gone down the drain. Money
lost and all vodacom care about is me paying at the end of the month.

Hi,

Was this problem ever resolved?
I have a similar issue - I can connect fine using my laptop and have internet access for a while, but the internet connection drops every time (router page 192.168.0.1 shows full access HSDPA, connected, but laptop shows 'No internet access'). Sometimes the connection is restored if I wait, or if I reset the router, or turn my laptop's wifi off and on. Works for a while, then suddenly no internet. Super frustrating...I have been close to throwing the stupid R205 against a wall, many times...
