Hi all,

I have multiple people asking me whats going on about the In store sales of the Windows 8?
They are being told that you NEED a Windows installed on there system to install Windows 8.

This is simply False!

I bought windows 8 yesterday, did my backup and then booted from disc and formatted my HDD and installed Windows 8 = if formated there is no OS on that HDD.(so i did clean install without any issues at all).

so to whom this may concern don't be worried, Go out buy it if you want to, just make sure get the Windows 8/pro box, (yes it is small. all you need is the discs and product key) there will be a 64bit disc and 32bit as well and then on side you will see a key on business card looking thing, pull it out, BAM!!!! your Windows 8 key is on that :)

thats all wanted to let you guys know :) Install and enjoy

oh yes and also note, MOST motherboard drivers are only Beta phase so your system might be glitchy for a while till the Manufacture releases an new Drivers that works 100% with windows 8.

Everything will work (sound; lan; wireless etc) just not the official drivers just have to wait a while for that.

Most of you apps should work with windows8 automatically. If not dont stress too much just wait a week or so then should be an update for that application and then all is well again :)

also there are few updates already for Windows 8 and there will defos be much more! I say this because i experience Performance issues with apps... some apps go slow and some really fast.

but I am sure within a month they will be sorted out :)

NOTE: these things are just so you guys know whad up with everything. Lots of people dont want to upgrade because they scared of all this but i think it all good. it up to you.

I installed and works as it should.

JUST REMEMBER: No OS in beginning is going to be 100%

Thanks for the tip.
I guess they want to encourage people to move from pirate copies to legit versions of previous Windows.

Makes perfect sense because there'll come a time when you might have to format and reinstall Win 8.

Even the new OS is not immune to system bugs on your PC.

no problem.
yes i think also to move away from pirated copies.

But 600bucks or 700bucks depending on where you buy it. IS A BARGAIN!

Windiws 7 i think started at 1200. My win8 pro cost me 680... so thats amazing pricing according to me. and then Legit version and you can update etc etc and have no hassles.

and of course best thing is always have the Physical Discs. Lots of gamers are like that, they will pay that extra bit just so that they have physical thing in your hand and to me i agree.

Thanx for reply :)
My first thread haha

Did you buy the same version that Makro is selling for R600?
The other article says the fresh install versions are available but cost over R1K.

no problem.

Mine was even more of a bargain. R136, and I can order the dvd directly from Microsoft for another R136 if I want to, but I have the ISO now on flash drive, so no need.

Why would you need Windows X to install Windows 8? All you need is a machine that's capable, in which case all of them are these days.

To download the ISO you don't need Windows either,, you need Internet you can download it on Linux or MAC. The only thing you need Windows (>XP) for is an upgrade.

Just a question, did you format you harddrive through the Windows 8 installer? Or was the drive formatted before?

that's exactly what I've been wondering as well - if the win8 formats the HDD, then it knows there was a valid win on the drive, else maybe not....

Hi, i formatted before hand. Booted into Hirens boot disc and formatted. so No OS at all was present.

And @Bundu> The way they explaining it you can only upgrade. but you can still do this: for example, you buy new HDD now and boot from windows 8 disc you can install fresh Win8 onto that HDD.

You do not need any OS present. so long got a HDD and windows 8 discs you should be able to Install windows 8 fine.

Also i highly doubt also win8 would see there is a valid OS installed because most people format from disc so dont think having windows XP> is necessary. (I am speaking under correction)

but i Formatted HDD in Hirens 4 times over ( I am anal about things like that ) and then booted from windows 8 pro disc and all went 100%.

Sorry if i Babble too much, I always give too much info than too little

thanks HApyM3al
then this really sounds like quite a good deal

No problem :)

Dont worry everyone was worried about what being told and what is the truth and i just thought let me go and buy and see what goes for what so R680 for full retail version ( discs and product key ) that really good deal compared to R2000 that i am hearing that going to be after this specials...

@ HApyM3al

It's good to hear someone who actually tested it and can give us the correct information, I'm still waiting for my copy (Groupon deal) so it's good to know I can completely format before hand.

no problem :) Someone has to do it right? haha

@DrJohnZoidberg

what do you exactly mean? like input product key and activates? if that is what you are asking yes i installed and it is activated successfully. Doing updates etc is all good.

Mine is a clean install and is activated
