Kings played excellent rugby - was a bit suprised when they went to the corner so Early but they backed themselves. Well done - my most difficult Pick this Weekend :p

Sharks captain Keegan Daniel is reportedly unhappy that there are too many Afrikaners involved in Sharks rugby.

The Beeld website reports that this statement, apparently made recently by the Sharks skipper, has upset the majority of the players.

It has led to a divide in the Sharks team, who have lost their last five Super Rugby games. They are currently languishing at 11th spot on the overall Super Rugby log.

Only six players out of the 22-man squad which lost 32-17 to the Reds in Brisbane last week are not Afrikaans. They are Daniel, Lwazi Mvovo, Patrick Lambie, Kyle Cooper, Odwa Ndungane en Monde Hadebe.

According to Beeld's sources the captain feels isolated leading the team, which apparently also has so-called "cliques" amongst its ranks.

Furthermore, there appears to be trouble in the Sharks boardroom as well, which led to a so-called "Operation Cleanout", with Sharks CEO Brian van Zyl being the first victim.

Van Zyl will be replaced by former Springbok captain John Smit, who will start his new role on July 1. Sharks coach John Plumtree and commercial manager Rudolf Straeuli are apparently the next targets.

Smit last week told a Sunday newspaper the toughest part of his new job will be to "make decisions about the future of people I know and had a close working relationship with in the past."

Looks like sensationalism to me, there has always been mainly Afrikaans speaking players in the Sharks team. Lets wait and see but to me it looks like the media trying to jump on the bandwagon offering crazy ideas as to the Sharks demise.
 
Daniel tweet douses 'fire'

Cape Town - Sharks captain Keegan Daniel has deftly pooh-poohed reports that he is suspicious of an Afrikaans-dominated environment in the Super Rugby camp ... almost without saying anything.

The mobile, diminutive Springbok loose forward (@KeeganDaniel) took to Twitter from Australia this morning (in SA time terms), posting a photograph of him enjoying a convivial coffee with all-Afrikaans squad-mates Jannie du Plessis, Pieter-Steph du Toit and Franco van der Merwe.

The only words attached to the tweet, sent out to his 34 844 followers, were: “Just getting a quick lesson in Afrikaans before training. Your thoughts?”

There was a quick response from the heart of Afrikanerdom in Pretoria, where Bulls captain and another Bok team-mate Pierre Spies (@Pierrespies8) simply said: “Moooooi manne!” (Nice, men.)

The tweets appear to pour cold water over a report in Afrikaans newspaper Beeld, suggesting that the Sharks camp had been rocked by a statement from Daniel - he was not actually quoted in the story - that there were “too many Afrikaners involved in Sharks rugby”.

The piece said Daniel felt isolated as leader and was fearful of cliques in the squad.

It follows a difficult period for the Durban-based side, in which their hopes of making the 2013 playoffs have nose-dived with five defeats in succession, although they have arguably been disrupted by injuries more than any other side in the competition.

The Sharks play the Force in their final Australasian tour fixture in Perth on Friday (13:45 SA time).

Perhaps significantly, Daniel has been retained as skipper even though he is probably due a rotational break.

The side sees the return of prop Jannie du Plessis and flank Willem Alberts.

The Stormers have been fined a total of A$25,000 (ZAR 228,000) by SANZAR after they were found guilty of insulting and offensive conduct towards a match official.

Wait, comment: if the guilty party happens to be correct in their assessment (though perhaps not in their method of presenting it) then something needs to happen. R50 says they could pass a plate around for supporters of the game (not even WP) to pay for their criticism of the ref.

I was defeated by poor signal at GF's house so I have been barely online. I tried to pick yesterday but the damn EDGE signal kept killing me.

CHIEFS to beat Hurricanes
-but not decisively. The Hurricanes may be a bit tired from a trip around the globe but they will be bolstered by their away defeat of the Cheetahs

STORMERS to beat Rebels
and again, not by much. Please Stormers - do not disappoint. Lose this and you've lost the plot. Rebels should be a walk over for an in-form stormers side. Current side is out of form but they should still be able to scrape an away win and end their tour on a high...
FORCE to beat Sharks
...unlike the sharks. Sharks recent dissent in the camp -whether true or not - can't do much for morale. The Force thrive on these types of opportunities as they lack skill in all other places. Woe is me - wish I was wrong and maybe I will be. We can only hope.


CRUSADERS to beat Blues
Crusaders have sucked this year, lots of up and down rubbish. I expect them to squeeze out a win at home, if for no other reason than to salvage some pride. And to make a run at the play-offs.


WARATAHS to beat Brumbies
The Curse of the Bye. I read the other day that the success rate for teams returning from rest is just over 50% AGAINST!. 'Tards feel good about their Stormers victory and may just spoil the Brumbies day.

BULLS to beat Highlanders
The Bulls seem to be experts and dodging the Bye curse and this match will be no different. Ahead of local derbies against an out of form side, I expect them to go for the full haul of points in this game. Expect a bloodbath.

Cheetahs v Reds - no pick
I will hold onto this one till tomorrow. I hope the Cheetahs can but last week's brain fart is a little off putting.
