Hi Everyone.

Not sure if this post is in the correct section, but I'm entering the job market in 2014 and I'm looking for some of the best job search and recruitment websites to search for IT related jobs (besides the usual career24 etc). All suggestions will be appreciated.

Going to need to learn to code in a more recent language than cobol then :p

How about uploading your CV to something like www.monster.co.uk or www.monster.com ? It's not going to help you for a position in SA of course, but it's good to just leave it out there in case. I've known people to get picked up from good overseas companies this way - I have no idea if you want to leave or not, but it doesn't hurt to explore the options.

EDIT: One more thing: Get on LinkedIn! These days it is the best way to get noticed by employers or recruiters/head-hunters, and also the best way to find opportunities. LinkedIn uses heuristics based your location, skills, your connections' skills, your connections' employers, and companies that you are following to recommend posted jobs to you. Make a good profile, and try put in something to get you noticed (in a good way preferrably :) ).

Unfortunately the job search sites are currently a cesspool of terribly written ads that are 99% of the time posted by recruitment agents who redefine the word useless.

I've found careerweb.co.za to be pretty decent... I've received a number of calls from recruiters finding my CV on there from time to time... worth a try...

It's now almost impossible to get a UK job unless you don't already have a visa.

2014? You might just upset the recruiters this year by not being available, that they won't call you next year.
+1 for Pnet.

I just looked at the requirements - yeah, looks like they've become much stricter in the last 7 months or so. Tier 1 seems impossible, while Tier 2 looks barely doable if you've got a job offer, but a lot easier if you've either a huge salary or PhD.
