Hi Everyone,

Who's the clever Telefunken guys out there:whistle:

I have this one huge problem: My Telefunken LCD 55 FHD connected via HDMI to HDPVR works perfectly until I switch the TV off (STBY), then within a few minutes the decoder freezes. How do I know this (the TV is off?). I also have a remote tv connected through the RF OUT port on the PVR and the picture just "pause". As soon as I switch the main TV "on", it restores and whala:D

I have been told by reliable technicain that there could be a possibility that the TV "controls" the PVR and recommended that I should disable the control on the TV, but the menu does not allow me to access these settings:erm:

Any suggestions most welcome, I'll go as far as to try the "base-ball bat" route:twisted:

Regards,
Theuns

Not quite.... does the decoder display HDCP IS NOT SUPPORTED when the TV is off?

Basically the HDPVR requires a HDCP signal from the device its connected to to verify its a TV and not a recording device, TVs send this signal constantly as long as they have power, your TV however seems to not send this signal when its in standby. HDPVRs do seem to be more sensitive than other devices though

PS: Find another technician ;)

Thanks for the reply, no, the decoder does not display anything out of the ordinary, the picture on the remote (slave) TV just freezes and as soon as I switch the main TV back on, the picture recovers and normal play continue. I sometimes (when the picture was in "freeze mode" for a long time (few hours or so) have to 1st select another channel (101) on the decoder in order to recover the picture.

No prob, I think its the same issue though. Try update the TVs firmware if possible, otherwise going via an HDMI switch or amp should solve it

telefunken telefuked

I have the same tv with the same problem I live next door to multichoice but hey its hell any ideas will help

grey import

you could unplug the HDMI cable when the telefunken is off,

had the same problem with my telefunken / logic / Chinese brand ( they are the same , had the control board blow once, and NU-TEK the importers gave me a board from a logik , and it worked) anyway , back on track,, the PVR looses the HDCP communication when the TV is off, so it becomes stupid,

Hi
Yes I have done that for a while but its still a lass and still reboots sometimes , I swopped out my decoder the other day but now the arc settings also get lost every reboot, dam its frustrating . I am going to ask that hdcp gets programmed out of my decoder mmm

But with RCA cables it works fine so why does it only look for hdma on the hd cable mmm crazy stuff.

whahaha good luck with that one

have you set up the arc settings in the personalisation menu? ( option 3 i think)

It's supposed to do that

Read up on CEC here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI

Your decoder stops transmitting a signal because your TV told it: "Hey bro, gonna take a nap now. I'll let you know when I need a signal to be displayed again".

I also think that varies from tv to tv

My Samsung doesn't drop the hdcp in standby

CAN we take multichoice to court :-)

Remote

Also with this telefunken tv one cant get the remote from hdpvr to connect to tv remote on the code for telefunken or any of the technical steps too train the remote to accecpt commands for the tv , so something strange is up mmmm or are multichoice decoders just little slow in catching up mmmm cause me huge pain , decoder reboots every switch on and scans and looses arc setting takes a full 5 min to setup tv every night . Hoarse nuggets.

Yet with rca cable set it all works fine , so the cutting off logic only does it on the hdma cable set Some one please help

I had all of the above with my telefunken, eventfully trashed It and got a Samsung , muuuch better

unfair

I had all of the above with my telefunken, eventfully trashed It and got a Samsung , muuuch better

Yes I agree and probably so does Samsung but hey I spent a LOT OF TIME and MONEY to get this all set and saved for and here come along **** old dstv decoder that doesn't work on all products mmmm Rather take dstv to court and PACE electronics who make the crap product .

The pace unit is actually quiet good, sky uses the same one, its more Dstv's licensing agreements with their content providers that require them to have all the extra security , even the uec boxes have the same ( search uec 2u)

It's a locally manufactured box

Yes the box is not bad quite robust ect buy hey I am 20 k down the tube for exercise purchasing a 60" tv and decoder and installation and all works fine on rca but not on hd , If we made such a good unit why does it not work on a perfectly good tv , something not right and why should I burn, DSTV need to develop there software better to improve compatibility Or something but NOT the stone wall of trying to say it is the TV fault, they must accept they need to be more setup and empowered to handle various tvs and situations .
