My mom says she got a call from someone at MTN, calling saying that "MTN would like to thank her for her loyalty".
So basically she's being given a R10k voucher. The lady on the phone just asked for my mom's physical address, nothing else. I was worried that it might be a scam to phish her details somehow, but seems they didn't ask for any other vital info.

Has anyone received a similar call? Is it a scam that anyone knows of perhaps? I can't see the justification of such a high value voucher, if they said R500 or less I'd maybe believe it.
Thanks

Put this way; after being an MTN customer for 10 years, a couple of years back they sent me a solar-powered mobile phone charger.

If the story is true, I'm boxing the charger, sending it back and requesting my 10K!

Why would they need her address? Surely the operator would have confirmed the address and your mom should have asked her to?

Almost sounds like that ink scam where they send you a "FREE voucher!!!!!!" with 2 ink cartridges charged at R950 each
