Hi,

As HTC South Africa's representative on the forum, we'll answer any questions to do with the HTC One, launched today in London and New York on this thread.

Here is the direct link to the phone on the HTC website: http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one/

You can also see picture and updates on HTC South Africa's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/HTCSouthAfrica.

The phone is expected on shelf in April in South Africa.

The specs can be found here: http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one/#specs

They key features include a new version of Sense, a customisable feed on the home screen called the HTC Blinkfeed, the UltraPixel Camera with HTC Zoe and HTC Boomsound.

The phone has a unibody mental case with two front facing speakers. Check out the MyBroadband story here: http://mybroadband.co.za/news/smartphones/70854-htc-one-unveiled.html

Well I'd be much happier with the launch if there was actually a live stream of the event so I could cover it for NAG, but...you know. From here it doesn't look like anyone in the PR department paid much attention to the millions of people on the internet who don't want to sit and watch the ramblings of live bloggers who are actually there.

I feel that's a big opportunity that HTC squandered, getting the phone and all the info out there all around the world so your fans can say something about it.

Actually a number of journalists watched the stream live locally. If you PM me your details I'll pass you on to the PR team who will send you the press release with pictures.

This may have converted me in searching for an available new S2 or waiting for the S2 Plus and Xperia Z.

As long as you guys bring the black version to SA? Desire HD -> HTC One, here I come!

PS: It's awesome that we now have a HTC Rep on the forums!

Only landing in April? I have my upgrade coming up mid March. How am I expected to wait 2 or 3 extra weeks? Blasphemy! ;)

Camera looks interesting, only 4MP but will be interesting to see how comparison shots compare with S3, 920 and Iphone 5.

Ok, so is the "HTC Rep" just promoting this phone on MyBB and will then disappear again, or can we also ask questions about other HTC phones, like the HTC OneX+, etc.

Is the HTC Rep here for the long haul?

This is one of the sexiest looking phones I've seen!

A quad core 1.7GHz processor, Gyroscopic image stabilisation built into the camera lens.

It'd be interesting to see how this compares to the S4 when it is launched.

Excellent question, cos I'd love some assistance! I really hope this is a sign of HTC's turnaround locally.

I can see that Peter Chou wasn't joking when he said that HTC were going to spend Samsung dollars on Marketing. I'm under the impression that the Galaxy brand only smacked HTC in the face when the S2 came out. All the best of luck to HTC, I am an HTC fan over Samsung when it comes to mobile phones. Had to leave the skinned Android experience because of update problems.

I don't really like Samsung...

For me, it'll either be the Sony Xperia Z or this HTC One... if the price is right of course ;).

Its a different technology. The phone uses Ultrapixels which let in more light. The phone will produce better pics than the iPhone 5 and the S3
