Is this a record?

Denny Crane.

That is a record! I ordered dsl for an existing line, and I had to wait exactly 68 days for installation, and guess what. I installed my router the same day I got it, saving like R404.00. The amount of days were the time it took for them to activate the flippen dsl!

I HATE YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!!

ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT GET ADSL INSTALLED IN UNDER 30 DAYS!!!!!!!!!

/me breath!!!!!!

Still waiting for my evil port project. Wish i had another option.

Cmon people - he's Denny Crane! he just sits there and says 'Denny Crane' and Telkom tremble!

Any1 in Stellenbosch, what is the normal time to wait, seeing as the place is not as big as the major cities

Technopark: 6 weeks for the first line last year and 3 months for the 2nd line earlier this year...

No Record....
Mine 19 days, sorry you lost out by about 2 days.... So close but yet so far...

A friend of mine in Gordon's Bay (next to Strand/Somerset West) got his DSL line in UNDER 7 DAYS! From ordering to it being activated! It was an existing line. If I remember correctly he ordered on a Friday and he was up and running on the following Tues or Wed.

Top that! :)

And his one neighbour has just ordered DSL (no existing line) and already has an install date in a few days (I don't have exact no. of days). It's likely to take longer because there's no existing line (2 different telkom teams have to be involved - the cabling people then the connecting people)

This has been about the only major benefit of living in Gordon's Bay for my friend so far (besides that the property prices *used* to be cheaper, when he bought).

OK - slight clarification to my above post. My friend got his line in exactly 7 days - my bad. But still it's impressive!

I just asked him to refresh my memory as to the sequence of events, and he responded thus:

"I faxed off my request to cybersmart on the thursday - checked on the friday that they received it, then on monday I asked Telkom and they said it was with their planning dept and would take a few weeks. Wednesday morning they phoned to ask if Thursday was a good day for the install. So yeah 7 days it was then."

CyberSmart is his ISP and they offer to put in the DSL line order to Telkom for you, which is what he did.

1 week after faxing the request form to Cybersmart his line was installed by Telkom :D

I wonder if the have a seperate turn around time when dealing with a company/isp instead of customers directly.

Lucky You Bro, ;)

My Story...

Ordered ADSL 384k line on the 22 July 2006
phone back on the 5 August 2006 to irritate them and i find out that i apparently havent placed an order and there is no installation due here...

So i basically went through the whole process again and am now still waiting...

So there are more people with similar installation times then? So mine was not a fluke? Ok, then Telkom are sorting out their turnaround time (I hope)

Race you - ordered Mid July - Still waiting.

We also wondered that, but the quick response his neighbour has got (and they did the usual all-Telkom route with 2 year contract - shame!) would suggest it's the area.

Well quite similar here...

Type ADSL 1024

Ordered: 8 August 2006

Installed: 25 August 2006

Area: Emmarentia (JHB)

Lol the funny thing is I still have to purchase a router because I was of the opinion this installation would take more like 6 weeks.

Telkom jacking up perhaps?
