Promo data bundles not on iOS app?

I usually get a 100MB bundle on my iPhone every couple of months for checking mail, MMS etc. I also recently got an SMS from Vodacom inviting me to install the Vodacom iOS app, which I did. Prior to this I always used USSD for buying bundles.

I bought a 100MB bundle yesterday, via the iOS app, and first checked promotional bundles. There were only two available, a 12x1GB and a 12x2GB, so I reverted to a standard MyMeg 100MB bundle at R49.00.

A little later in the day I checked the USSD options and a 100MB promotional bundle is available for R29.00. This situation persists today.

So did I miss something obvious, has somebody at Vodacom screwed up or have I simply been swindled?

Thanks for the link, it however doesn't address the problem that I didn't explain well enough:

The iOS app only has 2 promotional bundles available, neither of which are what I wanted. I wanted a 100MB bundle, this was only available in the iOS app at R49.00. A 100MB promotional bundle (albeit with a different validity to the standard) is however available via the USSD menu for R29.00

The app cannot buy the promotional bundles, to buy for those good prices you must use USSD.
Vodacom appear to have decided to hide this promotion by making it's access some sort of arcane art and knowledge.

And those bundles are only valid for 30 days from day of purchase. You can read more by sifting through the article discussion in the forum.

Thanks R13. I thought the app would make the process of buying data/airtime simpler, but it looks like Vodacom have just added another level of confusion.

Yeah, Vodacom's MO seems to be to confuse the subscriber. Like their prepaid tariff plans. On the one hand you have "All day per second" and "Anytime per second". They're vastly different tariff packages marketed similarly.

All I see on USSD is the old prices. And I have less than 3MB left, but there's no way I'm buying a bundle at the old price, so I'll just turn the data off on the tablet for now...
