Banking executive Nkosinathi Solomon has been appointed campaign director for the party political platform, Agang, it said on Monday.
Agang leader Mamphela Ramphele said in a statement Solomon's appointment would come into effect on June 1.
"We are thrilled that Nkosinathi is coming on board. He's a top business executive who has overseen R1 billion budgets, run operations with staff complements of up to 2500 people and has both local and overseas experience in the banking and oil sectors," she said.
"Although we are currently operating with about 25 staff, interns and volunteers, Nkosinathi's is the first high-level executive appointment we've made since launching with a small team in February."
She said Agang had had to be patient to bring on board a person of Solomon's quality and it had been "worth the wait".
"More top-level staff appointments will be announced once they are finalised and candidates have negotiated notice with their current employers. We're excited at the quality of people we are attracting."
Solomon initially trained as a chemical engineer at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and later earned a Master of Business Administration from UCT's Graduate School of Business.
He had been a management fellow at Wolfson College, Cambridge University in England and attended the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Chicago.
He was currently employed by ABSA as chief operations officer for its life assurance business.
Agang intends contesting the 2014 national elections.
