Found this link. Apple branded RAM is quite expensive, any local alternatives?

Ya, I got some for my Mac Mini last year. Not sure what the make is, but you can research it on the internet. It is a very specific type of RAM that is used (Specific Specs, not Brand)
Any A-Grade RAM that meets the specs will do. The Mini uses notebook RAM but I think the Pro uses standard DDR2. Just find out if the store will take it back if it gives problems.
The Mac Pro uses FB dimms (not standard DDR2) with special additional heat sinks and most non-apple ram DOESN'T work with it yet - cooling problems.
Some of the bigger companies are working on getting compatible ram produced - crucial being one. Last I heard its going to be better to wait a month or so before reliable 3rd party FB dimms for the mac pro will be around, and then you'll probably have to order from overseas.
Most of the desktop and laptop macs use the same PC2-5300 DDR2 667 SO-DIMMS, ie laptop memory. AFAIK the intel mini, imac, macbook and macbook pro all use these.
