I wouldn't advise doing this without a UDID slot. Once the rush has died subsequent updates may reintroduce the check and you'll be forced to register or downgrade to iOS 6. From past experience restoring newer backups over older iOS isn't guaranteed to work.
 
Saw on IG that you're running it already, how is it so far? Any bugs?

Don't make newer backups :) people must realise this is a beta, and as such it is meant for testing purposes only. Also, it will expire in about a month anyways!

It's great! Nice and fresh feeling, definitely quite a few bugs, but some are also third party app-related which need to be updated. We're posting feedback on the feedback thread over on iPhoneZA if you're interested.
 
I'm tempted to dive in as well. The only real value I've been getting from JB has been SBSettings and BatteryDoctor Pro, so I might be swayed to drop it. Looks like SBSettings can be replaced with the new control centre.
 
Well, I'm liking it so far. A couple of bugs here and there but all things that will get ironed out before the final release.

I get an impression of something brand new and well thought-out, yet still feeling familiar to me.
 
The design is crap - the icons are unbalanced - many things are half assed - yet there are some nice features - Id say once they improve then it will be really nice, but right now not thaaaaat impressed
 
I have a .dmg file now which I downloaded from one of the links I got to from the OP. What do I do with it? iTunes isn't recognising it and neither is any other program on my PC.

Open it with 7zip the ipsw is inside.
 
I would highly advise against trying this.

Alright I didn't do it exactly as an update because like an idiot I tried to Update straight from a Jailbreak to iOS7 without first unjailbreaking, but either way once you have the firmware installed the Activation is where the problem comes in.

I ended up paying $8 to get my UDID registered just to get my phone back.


If you ARE brave enough to try this at the very least save your SHSH blobs with TinyUmbrella so that you can rollback to iOS 6 if required. Without them your phone will be DEAD.

Huh?

What exactly is half-arsed? For a Beta 1 I thought this is pretty solid, at least compared to iOS6 Beta 1.

No, open the hfs in 7zip as well should reveal the ipsw

Just to clear this up, you CAN downgrade to the latest iOS 6 version by putting the device in DFU mode first and then restoring to iOS 6. No blobs required as they are pretty useless right now.

Like you said because you were jaillbroken you had to go to a fresh firmware first before updating to iOS 7 as it has been with most jaillbroken firmwares in the past. But you're right UDID makes life a lot easier as you can then just shift restore to iOS 7 and it will activate as you don't have to bypass anything.
