Telkom has been hit with another antitrust penalty in a settlement with the competition commission, in which the telco also promised transparency and lower prices over the next 5 years.

They could also have dragged this on for a few more years... looks like the new Board and CEO want to start with a clean slate:
1. settle all CC disputes and agree to product price reductions
2. impair assets to reduce product prices
3. tackle ex-staff involved in MultiLinks failure instead of leaving the entire R10bn as a loss...

They have few more hard decisions ahead and will most definitely be hitting the heads against the Govt brick wall VERY soon. With an election year coming up the biggest shareholder is not going to be happy with retrenchments or decisions to switch off networks in non-profitable area!
 
For the first time ever. after reading the Group Annual Results presentation I was actually happy:

decommissioning of unprofitable services.

this objective.
It is incumbent upon us as a team to rise to this occasion by ruthlessly focusing on execution and delivering results
