Is this still scheduled for release in Oct?

And (stupid question) how long will it be from release date until one sees a local server for online gaming? (if thats the correct terminology)

I need to decide if I should get BF2 now and play online or wait for BF2142. I saw BF2 at rage and it looked pretty exciting
 
BF2142 is due for release on 13 October 2006.
I pre ordered mine via digital planet...
So hopefully ill get it soon
 
Get BF2 now and come practice. We can always do with a few more targets, errmm players :D

It's been delayed till the 20th.

The guys at SGS normally get the games a day or so before the official launch to set up a server. Was like this for BF2.

It would help you alot to get BF2 now so that you can get into the whole feel of it. If you don't want to spend the cash on something that you probably won't use for too long then rather wait.
 
well the EA site says 13 days 3 .....

dont pre order dude

big mistake

bt5games will have it before anyone else

pre ordering with those places could take up to 2 weeks later

never do it through them bad bad mistake
 
Dont get bf2 now, its at the end of the cycle, just wait for 2 weeks, everyone is going to move over to 2142 anyways

Personally I wouldn't get BF2 now, maybe download the demo and pratice against the bots a bit.

Hopefully they'll release a 2142 demo shortly as well.
 
Digital Planet has Bf 2142 for 239.99 ex shipping - not a bad price at all. Never ever orderd from them so not sure about shipping times
 
OK I'll play the BF2 demo for now, but if 2142 is not released on the 20th or I dont get a copy, I'm gonna be cursing some people on here ;)

BTW what is the min approx cap size I need for say 12 hrs online game time (BF) per month?
 
why not wait for the demo to bf2142 to come out? it comes out on saturday (6 oct) to the general public, and its multiplayer. SGS will probably host it so u can practice against "real" players...
 
The demo is out if you preordered a copy via the EA website.
I'm downloading it now; only trouble is, it takes a hell of a long time when the whole world is downloading a 1106MB file from EA.

44% and counting.

SGS gets the server files in advance from EA SA and there is already a BF2142 demo server up.

and I got an e-mail from then yesterday that if you buy between now and 11 Oct, shipping is free.
