Best Graphics card for R2000.

Sarcasm.. not the : p

I am buying it.. and I don think theres is anything better seriously.

Dont some Nvidia fan boys at least want to fight about it?

Oh and almost 100 posts.. wow.

Haha, can't believe how lively this hardware forum is. Thanks guys.
Maybe we should encourage the fanbois: Nvidia sucks.............

well actually I would say you can get some nice cards 2nd hand, yes I know 2nd hand sucks but I'd way rather get a 7800GTX 256mb 2nd hand than a cruddy ATI X1900GT for R2000 ;)

Are you joking because of the whole Nvidia fan boy thing? because a X1900GT beats a 7800GT by quite a bit, im sure a 7800GTX is similar. And it costs more, unless you go second hand, but then surely you'll be able to get a X1900GT second hand for cheaper pretty soon too?

Anyway, Alex, I actually did find something better seriously.

Its the X1900GT's replacement, its clocked higher and has a few other advantages, heat, noise etc.

but its the same price, cant find it in SA really though.. its the X1950 Pro. You can get it on wantitall.co.za, a Sapphire one for exactly the same price as a Sapphire X1900GT, R2200.
So once it gets into SA it will be the same price, so we might as well get that seeing as we have to wait about a month anyway.

Ive just checked some reviews, its a bit better than a X1900GT, not much but it is also alot quieter, runs cooler and uses less power. It also kills a 7900GT in Oblivion, COD2 nad Far Cry etc.

It's a damn good card. I'd get it. There's nothing in this country from nVidia that would be even close in terms of price\performance. Buy buy buy :)

ShockG, you mean the X1900GT or the 1950Pro?

because im not sure if the 950Pro is even in the country yet.. You can get it on wantitall.co.za though, so ive asked for a quote, there was an amazing price on the Asus (pre-overclocked, custom cooling) model, only $165!

The Pro. The GT is still 90nm the Pro is 80nm and clocks a little better.
either way it's great performance for the money.

If only we didn't get ripped off and had newegg. They have 7900GS for $150 with $20 re-bate :)

Hmm, I think id still rather go for a X1950Pro Asus for $165, its quite a bit better than the 7900GS especially with shading and Anti Aliasing.

And that Asus is nice, comes clocked a bit higher than a normal 1950pro apparently and runs cooler.

the funyn thing is that $165 is R1150 if you convert straight into Rands, yet we can only get it for R1000 more at R2140 from wantitall.co.za

we dont need to...its not us making the mistake...and not because he is buying a ati card rather then a nvidia card it just because he is buying right before the dx10 cards come out....when they do come out he is gonna kick himself because he could of got a better card for the same price....

and id go for n nvidia card if i was him...:D:D:D

Have to agree I am going to wait for DX10 cards mine is still going ok (Ati X1600). You will get a good two years out of a mid range dx10 compatible card

DUDE THERE IS NO WAY THE X1650 PRO CAN HOLD A CANLDE TO THE 7900GS

that x1900gt is decent enough for 2k i think

but rather spend a little extra for the 7900gs which is a 256 bit like the x1900gt the x1650 is 128 bit

Ja, I never said X1650Pro did I? Oh right.. I see I did, well i was talking about the X1950Pro the rest of the time.

And the X1950Pro destroys the 7900GS, the question is just how good it compares to the 7900GT, but it beats it in almost everything ,especially with AA and AF.

About the DX10 cards, the problme for me atm is, I have NO PC. I just sold mine and I have to upgrade. Anyway, a DX9 card will just play those games in DX9 mode, probably run okay compared to DX10 cards, but it wont look as good.

And if I do wait till the cards come out, then they will inevitably be a bit overpriced right at the start, so I'd have to wait even longer. And this card is amazing value, im not sure if you will find a DX10 card that is better for a similar price so easily. I just cant wait right now..
