Thread: Virgin NOT working ?

    Default Virgin NOT working ?

    Hi Guys & Dolls.

I have a Huawei E620 Fastlink data card.

My Virginmobile sim wont work in it.

The salesman at the virginmobile store assured me that it was a 128K card.

Cell-c , MTN & Vodacom sims all work very well.

However at 50c a meg I hope this is not a way of telling the newcomers to Virginmobile we have to deal with a service thats below standard.

    Can anyone HELP ?

I am using the MTN Dashboard to access all the networks.

I do understand that there are not many Smarties at Virginmobile so thats the reason I am seeking HELP here.

1st of all is the SIM working in your phone. ie have you made the chargeable call yet? You need to make a chargeable call for the SIM to activate and download the WAP sttings.

2nd have you set the APN to vdata.

Yes I have made the chargeable call and have even used GPRS on my mobile.

I had the phone settings sent to me.

I am not sure whether my sim is 128k or 64k.

I gave the helpline a call and the guys from data are trying to ship me a 128k sim just in case thats the problem.

Is there any way to tell if the sim is 64k or 128k.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Using R2 a megabyte is eating away at my pocket.

    Thanks

64K SIM is black, 128K SIM is red.

Change your APN to "VDATA", all other three networks use the "INTERNET" APN.

Default Dashboard did not recognize Virgin

    OK !

The problem has been sorted out. But not by the most proper means available.

Today I tried the Vodafone Dashboard.

    Virgin Connected.

It appears the mtn dashboard was giving me a hassle.

Though I would like to get a proper dashboard for Virgin mobile.
