The Steam Summer Sale 2014 Thread

Steam Summer Sale Tips:

• Subscribe to this thread for posts on flash sales & amazing deals/free games
• Make some notes on what games you would like to buy.
• Work out a budget you are willing to spend, and stick with it. Don't over spend just because the games are so cheap, and end up not being able to eat for the rest of the month.
• Put some money in your steam wallet, that way you won't get 100's of mini transactions on your credit card.
• Put the games you want on your Steam wishlist - that way you can keep track on what you still need to buy and what their current deals are. Steam will also e-mail you when they are on sale.
• Don't buy the Pack Deals (eg: Sega/Id/Ubisoft Collections) unless you want enough of the games to justify the price.
• Flash sales last 8 hours, and will generally be the lowest price they will go in the sale.
• All Games will have price reductions, but don't buy those games (Yet) unless they are a Daily Deal, Flash Sale, or Community Choice.
• If a game hasn't been a Daily Deal, Flash Sale, or Community Choice buy it on the last day of the sale (they usually repeat all the popular ones on last day)
• Purchase games as gifts (select to store in inventory) - You can always "unpack" them to your own library, but they can now also be traded.
• Still keep an eye out on Green Man Gaming, Humble Bundle, Cheap Shark and other sites - their prices can indeed be cheaper than steam itself.
• Install the Steam App onto your phone/tablet - that way you can check on the sale even when in bed (Flash sales change every 8 hours)
• Always vote on the Community Choice Games as you will be rewarded with extra Summer Sale trading cards (which can be sold for extra cash, or used to level)

Not much, go by new rule: Only buy if really is going to be played.

No point in spending X-amount and never playing it, I'd rather go do something else with that $$$.
