Okay, I just saw a N64 at a pawn shop for R300, still in mint condition, two controllers etc...

I know it sounds silly, but i'm thinking of buying the thing, dunno why, but i'm sure it will keep me entertained untill the wii comes out.
Problem is, where can I get my paws on a few games?
It's a PAL version BTW.

There is also a GC for R700, but IIRC nintendo.co.za also had them at that sort of price and the games were rather cheap, but that's all gone for now :(

If the N64 is mint I would buy it as a collectible simply to add to my collection.

If the system is Pal yoy may be able to find a few games locally and if not could probably buy them on ebay for next to nothing...i suggest golden eye and perfect dark and also Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Twooie..all excellent games and some of my faves..not to mention the Zelda games availaible on N64...you might also consider buying a bungdoctor 64 on Ebay.com..then you can simply download the roms and play them.... I hope my latter statement doesnt spark another piract is wrong debate

Grab It Without Second Thoughts!

Hey man that n64 makes my mouth water! If you follow retro gamer the magazine its collectability rating isnt high......yet.But as it is the last hightech cartridge based console it will one day be worth plenty!I have only the fondest memories playing mario 64[arguably the best game of all time],and thinking how utterly crap the ps1 looked in comparison.Dont make the same mistake i did,by buying one also at a pawn shop then selling it.If i knew where that n64 was i would buy without batting an eyelid.YOU CAN DO IT![ROB SHNEIDER]

PS:EBAY HAS THE GAMES,AND GET THE GOLD ZELDA64 CART IN BOX.LOCALLY CHINESE SHOPS SELL N64 GAMES QUITE OFTEN PROBLEM IS THEY STILL CHARGE PREMIUM RATES[IN CAPE TOWN]

N64 was never officially released in south africa but it is a kick ass system. you can probably get games for it at chinese stores. i saw one at N1 city here in cape town.

the GC is overpriced. you can get them 2nd hand in cape town at around R500. i just bought Super Smash Bros melee for R160. the most you should pay for GC titles is R200 though.

What shop?

What shop in n1 city? Those machines are getting so rare there is nothing here in the southern suburbs. You seem to know quite abit about pricing are you a collector? How do you feel about project 64 on pc?
CHEERS1

the shop is next to russels in n1 city. if you are looking for a GC or GC titles in the southern suburbs i know a few places ;)

reg. project 64, never heard of it. i play emulation games all the time. i use NESTOPIA on my mac. you can dl roms online. my personal opinion is that dling roms for games that are no longer commercially available is OK.

Project64 works quite well. I've played a few N64 games on it. It can take a bit of fiddling to get things running smoothly, depending on your PC.

Ok guys, thans for all the input.
I went and bought it this afternoon. It's in a perfect condition, with super mario 64 in the box :D

Quite a fun game, but i need to buy an adapter thingy for the plug, ATM it's either play n64 or be on the net :D Eish... haha, but thats no biggie though.

Anyways, I don't have a credit card, so ebay is a no-no for me. Will look around for chinese shops up here, but in PTA there aren't many that I know of.
Will get people who goes to CPT to get me games :D

Yay, my first console since the nes! Holding thums the wii will make it here !
