Be aware of the new hi-jacking scheme. Here's how it works:
You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside.
Then you lock all your doors, start the engine and shift into REVERSE and you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your parking space when you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window.
So, you switch off the car or shift the gears into PARK, unlock your doors and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever itis) that is obstructing your view...
When you reach the back of the car that is when the hi-jackers appear out of no where, jump into your car and take off!
The door was unlocked, your keys were in the ignition, maybe the engine was running, (ladies would have probably left their handbag, with their purse, cellphone etc; in the car) and they practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED!!!

Should this happen to you, just drive away and remove the piece of paper that is stuck to your window later....and be thankful that you read this email.

I hope you forward this to allyour friends and family...especially women! A purse contains all identification, and you certainly do NOT want anyone getting your home address. They already have your keys!

That's the scariest part! Heard this before, probably is true too considering we live in SA.

Then the immobiliser kicks in 30 seconds later because you opened the car door.

Is this starting to pick up again?

never the less, its good to make it available to as many as possible.
thanks

Anybody who jumps off with the keys still in their ignition and the door wide open is a daft idiot.

I'm sure this is on snopes or something, sounds like a hoax.

This is a fake.
http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/carjack.asp

If you people were critical enough you would realise that from this line: "So, you switch off the car or shift the gears into PARK" that it is a fake. Most South Africans drive manuals and so would put their cars into NEUTRAL, not PARK.

This is especially true if the warning came from the AA.

People! Think before posting this junk

(Having a bad day so excuse the snippy tone)

Well, at least you're honest about the fact that you intend to spam anyone who sends you their address...

Rather keep an eye out for suspicious characters sitting on the corner of your street...I saw them lots of times and one night they were waiting for me at the gate...and it was goodbye car :(

Dude spamming people with OBVIOUS HOAX emails is not helping the country or the crime problem....

Your idea is not a good one and your email address will be on a spam list so quickly noone will ever receive the emails..... Maybe make a real website first and then see if people want to join.

fight crime, join the police force

or get a red cape and become allergic to some kind of metal
or soap!! become allergic to soap!

ive gotten this mail about 5 times or so... spread the mail and join my blocked list

I agree, spamming wont solve crime. But I'm not going to spam, unless you mean someone else is going to abuse it???

Just thought I'll bring my part to the crime sitution. Sorry to all if you guys thought I'm a spammer.

Just want to make this country better and stop complaining! :)
i dont think emails will help bring down crime :( the robbers, rapists, hijackers, muggers, pickpockets and second hand car salesmen dont always have access to email...

Thanks pope24 for your valued inset on the sitution.

So you one of those guys that will act and get out of the sitution when it happens. You never double check your front door, never? Dont look behind your shoulder when you arive late from work going to your car!

Its a pleasure.

I am aware of what is going on around me. I do check my door, I am aware when I get home that no-one is following me.

Why I think you are being daft is that you are saying that even the fake alerts are valuable. If I am worrying about pieces of paper on my windscreen and other crazy hoaxes then I am going to be less alert when I need to be because either I live in fear and never leave my house or I stay alert in dangerous situations but relax when I am not in a situation where I am going to be under threat.

Hi All

This was a fake in 2004 now it is 2007 things change everyday.

If it is a scam or not. Watch when u go to your car alone.

Cheers
BB :)

Oh brother only in South Africa do we ignore the fact that certain things have proven to be false and act on them anyway...

This is the same rubbish as that idiotic email about how many people in the sa government have criminal records. Even though it's proven to be false and is in fact originally about the US government people still back it up...

It's a HOAX just drop it.

[edit] What happened to the spammers posts? Do you think we hurt his feelings :D
