Yeah well at R400 for a STB, and Digital TV's quite expensive, gonna be a bit of a problem for people who cant afford it...
 
Why would a digital tv be expensive? Should be pretty much exactly the same proce as a analog tv. The only difference between the two is a reciever
 
What i meant is that the people that cant afford the R400 for the STB would definitely not be able to afford a Digital TV, hence expensive.

Hands type without the brain :D
 
You wont need a digital tv if you get the R400 decoder. Your analog tv will do.
Just as your current DSTV decoder is a digital decoder and it works with your analog TV
 
Yeah but the problem is where are people who currently have normal SABC channels and cant afford much gonna get R400 to buy the STB?
 
Ja, now they have a means to enforce TV licences :( No licence, no reception.
 
****, didn't think of that... but then they cant enforce having a TV license to buy a TV as the punishment for non payment will be disconnection, like M-net...
 
Exactly, and the hackers will also likewise oblige to defeating their ways around this.

Does anyone know what the frequencies are for the current test digital broadcasts?

I have a DVB-T card and antenna, and would be curious to see if I can receive the programming.

Ok so it's all satellite, instead of using the existing frequency ranges and better technology?

How lovely. We now have no choice but to endure badly compressed MPEG video now.
