I'm wondering if it's possible...

I have a notebook with a cellular modem installed. I also have a microphone & earphones, this notebook also has a display, keypad, and so on.

Is there a way of having this notebook behave like a cellphone? Not VoIP, but plain old GSM?

(I'm not looking for instructions on how to use a phone as a modem, been there, done that, got the t-shirt ;) )

That will be one big ass phone!!!
Im not sure if it can, so Id say nope, cant be done.

lol - a fully big phone, but just imagine the storage space & screen res :)

I think I'm really thinking of something like a softphone, also If my phone has no (Vodacom) coverage, I could always use the Laptop (MTN)

GPRS runs on GSM so it wouldnt be impossible to do, maybe the right programme can do it.

I also wasn't thinking that this is a practical portable solution, just having the thing running, headset on, lying back in the couch & having both hands free...

If anyone can suggest a program to try, I'd be happy!
