Can anyone help, please? A colleague has a Lenovo R60 laptop (that she got together with 2 cellphones). The keyboard layout is rather different to what we're used to: the key to the immediate left of the Enter key is marked with the @ and ' signs (amongst other differences). How does she get to use this key to actually make the @ sign when typing email addresses (and other stuff)? The @ sign is very well shown when the numeric 2 key is pressed together with Shift (as is normally done), even though the key is marked with a 2 and ", but she would like to rather use the key that's got the @ sign on it.

You need the correct drivers. Is there a "Pound" symbol instead of a hash (#) above the "3" key? If so, it is likely that you have a UK version keyboard.

You can try altering your regional settings as follows (WinXP):
<Control Panel> <Regional & Language Options> <Languages> <Details> In the tree of languages, highlight the keyboard (probably indicates "US") and then click on <Add>. Select the language required and then check the box next to keyboard, from the drop down menu select the correct keyboard configuration - probably "United Kingdom". <OK> <Apply>

If that doesn't work, try the following (on WinXP), you should be able to get a download of the correct driver from Lenovo, or even from microsoft.

<control panel> <keyboard> <hardware tab> <properties> <driver tab> <update driver> follow the prompts and maybe you'll be lucky with a correct driver update.

Thanks for the advice, arf999: I don't know about the pound symbol, and will follow up this advice with her tomorrow.
Thanks once again for the reply.
