Star Wars Battlefront on consoles is pretty much R1000...

'Tis the season to be milking gamers.

Last time I checked, the games was R899 on the XBL Store and being an EA Access member grants me an extra 10% discount.

Now paying R1000 for a game is ridiculous. This where you part ways with having the latest games. In a few months time the price will be at 30% less. In 6-9 months time it will rock down to 50% or be given out for free and that's when I make a purchase.
 
Paid R899 + R729 for COD blops3 and the season pass and Im not complaining because the game is effen brilliant.
If you really love something, you wont question the price when the time comes.If you are on the fence then rather wait and dont pre order.

Doesn't work like that anymore. Advanced Warfare was still around R850 - R900 until BLOPS3 was released, GTA V is still ~R800, the Witcher 3 is R750. Games take a hell of a lot longer to drop in price these days, and even when they do it's not by much.

Madness. Far too expensive for a video game.

The horrendous price of console games these days is the reason I'm still playing my PS3.

Especially if you're buying older Call of Duty games from Activision through Steam. BLOPS II went back up to R799 with the latest currency change, and none of the DLC has been discounted either.
 
If you break down the cost per hour, you will see this is one of the cheapest forms of entertainment compared to the rest.
I bought Killzone Shadowfall for R500 - 2nd hand - I spent over 350 hours playing it, works out to R1.40 / hour.Where are you going to get entertained for R1.40 (+electricity) an hour? (Normal RRP -R899- would work out to R2.50/hour+-)

This is what i base my purchases on, replay-ability and longevity.

I know about the promotional prices and discounts that retailers are applying, but the RRP for the game is still R999.95.

Edit: I see that Black Ops III is also sitting at the same price.

Edit: And Need for Speed. Damn it...

Rise of the Tomb Raider and Forza 6 have also been bumped up to R999.95.

GTA V I picked up for R150 at Hi Fi corp, they had quite a few oldish games going for that price. They also had CoD AW but unfortunately it was sold out rather quickly.
 
hey loook!

Hearthstone was free! and I have been playing it for two years!!!!
and that is why I have not spent money on it.

but if you were to get into Hearthstone now, you would need to spend quite a bit of money or a lot of time.

3 expansions at $25 each and at least $25 per expansion in boosters for each expansion and there are 3.
so $150 to be competitive in a Free to play game.

you can get all sorts of discounts and things and you can get away with doing it with $100 so that is about the same.

but you can split it over a few months instead of in one go, and from there when new content comes out you wont need to spend money again, if you play smart that is.


so guess that all games are expensive lately...
 
I've never paid more than R400 for a game on the Xbox store but that's because I have waited for sales. I picked up Sunset Overdrive for R350, AC Unity for R199, Titanfall for R130 with all the DLC. Just last week GTA V was R400 or so.
