Still not officially released, but if you want the quickest gaming rig, the fastest 3DMArk scores and in general a super snappy system, this is the CPU to have. It won't be cheap but its sure a step up fro the QX6700 and the QX6800

Runs a little cooler than the previous Extreme quad cores, but also overclocks quite well if you have the cooling to keep it in check...

Frequency: 3000MHz (9x333)
Cores: 4
L1 Cache: 256Kib (combined, actually split into 4x32Kib chunks data and code)
L2 Cache: 8192Kib (combined, split into 2x4096Kib)
FSB: 1,333MHz QDR (333MHz SDR)
Core: Kentsfield

Just to show how much power, paried with a single 8800Ultra GX card, 3DMArk06 score is above 15,000 points :) 3DMark03: 49,000+ 3DMark05:22,000+
Incredible chip this!
Not the greatest in FSB clocking but much better than before, maxes out at 470MHz FSB

then i can buy this cpu and have dual 8800ultra's in sli

might sell a leg 2 because i would need a new power supply and some watercooling

When are they going to slash their prices? for the Quads i mean....

Not sure about the quads but the prices will be slashed on the 22nd of July I've heard

Even if you had the money, would the purchase of this chip be advised? I mean you look at the overpriced Extreme series P4 and they're already being beaten by the mid-range Core2 chips aren't they?

E6300 is prolly faster than most Pentium4 XE chips ;)
anyway, this baby is $1000/1000
Not sure what the retail will be but I don't expect it to be cheap. With the price cuts it may go down to $800 even but that's still allot of change. :/

It is though the fastest CPU you can buy (until Phenom X4 arrives then maybe we'll have to re-visit this) and if you have the cash you're better off with this than any other CPU. Just make sure you have the PSU to do the job... :)

Yes it is an Engineering Sample (ES) :)
