Hi

I have a Telkon DoBroadband 1Gb package with a Mega 100WR Router.

I will need more GB and therefore purchased a 1 GB Axxess pre-paid voucher( that came with a new username and password)

My question is this : How do I set my router(or computer) up in order for me to use both ISP's as I please without much hassle?

Thanks

Put your router in Bridged mode. That way u dail in manually from your PC *not letting the router do the dailing and connecting for u*.

That way when u start your pc up, and u wish to surf or download. U can select either Telkom 1gig or Axxess Prepaid to login with.

Thanks
But how do I put my router(Mega 100WR) in bridge mode ?

Do I also have to change settings on PC ?

Thanks

I also have the Mega 100WR. What I did was:

1. Took the modem as I got it from telkom and logged into the interface on 10.0.0.2 and checked that the default Telkom Guest account was "loaded" or whatever you want to call it. Note, NOT your DO1 Account username and password.

2.Next I went to THIS site and followed the instructions of installing RASPPPOE and setting up the multiple accounts with different usernames&password combinations.

Now my router still connects to the default Telkom Guest account, and I am able to connect via different accounts without setting Anything on the router. :D

Thanks

I've just downloaded RASPPPOE Program and will try to install .

Will report on Progress.

RASPPOE is only needed if you want two concurrent connection from the same PC, so you are able to route diffrent traffic via diffrent connections. The router must be placed in bridge mode, from the connection setting page, or if your modem/router supports in bridge/snap which allows you to have your connection on the router and use SLIP connections [ie. WANminiport].

When in bridge mode, simply got to your create internet account wizard, go to connect directly, set up manually, then via PPPOE. Enter your details and click connect. You can setup multiple of these accounts, but are only able to sustain on of them at a time from a PC. RASPPPOE rectifys this by allowing you to have two.

Brilliant

I've just installed and created two "adsl dial - up accounts" using RASPPPOE.

I can now choose wich adsl service provider I want to access from my desktop.

Thanks for all the help !!

Problems !!!

My PC can now connect to either ISP's
BUT
my WiFi Laptop cannot connect to either ISP.

I have tried installing RASPPPOE on my laptop but still not connecting.

Please help!

I am sorry, but I am totally clueless on the WiFi/Wireless front. I'm taking a wild guess here:

There need to be a wireless network connection set up between the laptop and the Router and the laptop and PC Should be able to see/share with each other. Then it should be rather straight forward setting up RASPPOE again to create 2 connections for the 2 different ISP's running, this time, via the Wireless Network. I say this cause afaik you will still have a "normal" network connection with the router,it's just being transmitted wirelesly - it is still an ethernet connection but the medium is different. So the setup of the 2 different ISP accounts should be Exactly the same as on the PC as soon as a Network connection have been set up.

But then again, I have never worked with WiFi so i could be Totally wrong here.

For you I would suggest getting an easy-to-setup proxy program like DDProxy (search this site)...

...it's comparatively easier to set up than other options - if you need more functionality just search this forum

PPPoe packets are blocked during the wireless transmissions AFAIK, I remember another thread discussing the same issue.

That explains it all

Will keep on experimenting !

Thanks for the help

Erm why not do it the easy way?

Create broadband connections on the pc's

control panel > network connections > create a new connection > connect to the internet > setup connection manually > connection using a broadband connection which requires username and password > type in isp name or anything > either of your 1gb usernames > done.

open up your browser on a machine, type in 10.0.0.2 , default username and password is admin and admin.

you will see a option for basic, then click on lan on the left hand side, if i remember correctly (i'm trying to pick my brain remembering the router's interface off by heart) you should have a option to change the router to bridge mode, and should use encapsulation RFC 1483. submit, save and restart router.

Then each pc can now dial up / connect independtly with either account you have.

The wifi machine you view your wireless connections, the router's ssid on default is 'yournetworkname'... connect to that, type in network key (wpa on default) and once it's connected you can connect independtly with that as well.

Will try this
After all my attempts this can only work9hpoefully)

Thanks

Wireless connection do not block pppoe connections in any which way or form. My current setup is that I am only connected via a wireless connection from my Room to my Study. I have successfully used RAS and the Windows Winiport to connect to concurrent connection at the same time, the only problem you will have to createing the routing tables to determine which traffic goes through which interface. This was before I upgraded to Vista. So if your laptop is running vista you may experience problems with the RAS drivers.

Looks like I was wrong, just remembered a post from awhile back, must have been to do with something else.
