Just wondering has telkom implemented the pay as you go local yet or what is really going on ?

Knowing Telkom we are probably paying for things we don't even use or know exsists.

No... You have to pay for any local you use above and beyond your combined local+international cap.

I don't actually know where the "free" part comes in... The ability to want to have local access is free?

How can they already be charging us for past-cap-local-data when the price per MiB hasn't be stated any where. Their website (www.telkomsa.net) hasn't been updated concerning the new capping system yet.

I feel that one should be able to go crazy with the local bandwidth, and if they do charge you (while there is no pricing information available) you take them to small claims court or something.

Being charged for something with no publicised cost is completely unfair and shouldn't be able to stand up in court.

Correct.

I'd use local to my hearts content since no pricing is mentioned, they sisn't even say if there's a new system in place or not.

as i said in another thread - use at your own risk

the words "Telkom" and "Free" cannot be used in one sentence, it just cant

I'm sure your international gets expended first and only then does local kick in.

Also as it says
Please ignore usage that accruse on the Local Bandwidth tracking tool and will have no impact on your original blended threshold purchased.

Woops, it's international like bwana said, I stupidly assumed you were using a TI account and a SAIX local only account, sorry. :o

Ummm im using a 2gb telkom internet acc, and since local doesnt count to international cap and its in test phase according to telkom im going to download to my hearts content as it isnt showing up on tracker and its their job to cap me.

Why would it hit international if im using saix.news.net , it should be hitting local.

Thats from another thread I think scorpion posted (not sure of name :P) , its also stated on the login page for telkoms new usage tracker.

I have been capped at 3GB( I estimate) and am currently able to only browse local sites. I will abuse it as long as I can, Telkom havent informed me of any changes to the soft capping policies for which I originally signed up for(it was the only reason I signed up with them). I understand the risk in that I may have to pay for the local bandwith, thats fine as I can hand them over to the Consumer Counsil. They cannot arbitrarily make changes to their product which changes it fundamentally and will negatively impact the consumer without informing them.

I could not agree more, well said and if they did im sure a large majority of this forum could open a case against them. The people vs big huge corporate lying monopoly , got to love it. Nice negative media attention..

I read that but I dont see how you interpret that local doesnt count towards the cap.

The way I read it is that while the metering is there it has no impact on the way your account is currently handled - blended threshold is - as telkom defines it - "international and local bandwidth combined"

no impact and test phase , local isnt adding up to my international or local counter as far as I can see, thus it seems to be unmonitored at this stage and thus free.
