BlackBerry Desktop Software v4.3?

Personally I still use 4.1 with my 8800 since I don't like the bloated Roxio Media Manager software that has taken the package from under 50MB to over 200MB. The 4.1 software has a nice simple media management software package that does all I would ever need to do.

I can maybe mention that kwmf is another of our sguys from Durbs, same office as Tazz_Tux (ex) and Brad.

But where Tazz is a Linux nut, kwmf is a full-on BB nut.

Brad is just nuts.....
 
So it seems like the durbs guys are just very very helpful.... :)

And yes, Durbs boys have a tendency to just go nuts period... :D

I myself am looking at the Crackberry curve as one option in my upgrade coming soon.

Not playing with a full deck is a prerequisite of working in this industry. The longer you're in it, the more permanent the condition.

The Curve holds advantage over the 8800 by coming with camera, 1gig SD and spell checker.

Yeah, forgot about that, but now that you've come out of the closet on it; won't you create a new thread on rootkits please? Just a short description on what they are and how difficult it is to catch them, etc.

I'll then add it to the FAQ....

The "swivel belt pouch" thing just sounds weird - like those boep-bags that some people like wearing on the beach and other public places :eek: :sick:.

What does the Blackberry Desktop s/w actually do - presumably contact & calendar synch but what else, does it allow a Blackberry to be used as a modem attached to a PC?

(Actually COMPLETELY O/T) V3g, maybe vodacom should look at putting up a digital copy of that pamphlet they have floating around in the Vodashops regarding what phones are on special on what packages atm...

I believe you're confusing a BlackBerry with those bricks called HTC and iMate :D

In a BES scenario, there is not much you need/want the desktop software for - mostly to upgrade the firmware (altho I believe RIM are working on a way to wirelessly upgrade the OS from the BES), perhaps to kick off an activation if you don't want to/can't do it wirelessly, as well as a few other support or advanced tricks that you may need to do.

In a BIS scenario, it is the means to sync with your PIM data, backup your device, etc, etc.

The media manager can be ignored IF you store your pics and other such files on an SD card since the device can be configured to use the SD to function as a mass storage device.
 
Now you say the 8800 has GPS as well, does that mean it comes with GPS software as well?
 
Eish ... V3G is trying to make MORE work for me
(like I don't have enough already with all the GP people coming to DBN)

The GPS and associated software on the 8800 and 8310 (curve) are the same

once i have your disc and installed it + may also do a fw upgrade i will try and set it up again. if i am still having a problem i will be in touch if you do not mind. thx.
