I just thought how nice mobile broadband would be if this speed was consistent.

8bits in a byte 8192/8 = 1MegaByte per second!!! MTN HSDPA is limited to 1.2Megabits per second currently (and HSDPA standard to 3.6Mbps) I still use dial-up and sometimes get a reported DL speed of 13KBps = 104kbps - which is theoretically impossible on a 56k modem.. These apps sometimes report false values. It would've been nice though....

whenever i got download speeds higher than 800kb/s then the mtn software would show 0kbps
