Omega Isonic MegaPower Modular 600W, any good?

One of the cheap 600W with Active PFC (according to info given by a dealer from systemshock)and modular cabling under R600. Never heard of this brand before and google results are all local websites. What do you guys think?? Manufacturere's link http://www.isonic.co.za/psu.htm

+5V 28A
+3.3V 30A
+12V1 16A
+12V2 17A
-12V 0.3A
+5Vsb 2.0A

Temped by the Looks,specs and price, anyone using one currently and can comment on this product? Or just give me your thoughs by looking at this PSU. Rather go for something like Coolermaster Extreme power 460W? Codgen 480? Both passive PFC, similar price range.
 
Got one the other day....hooked it up thinking "Please work!" seeing as my luck with hardware hasn't been too great lately.

Long story short, it blew up in my face :mad:

Hopefully i can find some time to return it, might get another one just to see if it might just have been a dud.

My advice is: Don't skimp on a PSU. Its probably one of the most important parts of your entire computer, and something you can use with your next upgrade.

:o Luck it didn't blow up the rest of your PC.....Any idea what will you get for a PSU in a similar price range?
 
Have had 2 of them and both of them crapped out...My advice stay away...spend the extra bucs and get a coolermaster extreme power 650w. Probably one of the best psu's on the market.

:eek: Maybe we should spread the word, since this is a top seller in take2's PSU section....
 
Mine just blew up too, and almost gave me heart attack!!!!
 
They are not that bad. Come on! :)

Isonic is solid. Not to mention the new kid on the block and their entry into the market is pretty damned slick. :) Shame about the couple of duds reported here, but my personal experience (be it a little limited) is that it is quite a good make in the cheaper end of the market. Their cases are not too bad either.
 
I agree with antowan. More than likely you'll only hear about complaints, but I'm sure there are more people out there with no problems.

I also looked around for an affordable modular psu and ended up getting the Isonic 600W. Had for about a year now and no problems yet *holding thumbs* ;)
 
Isonic megapower 600w

Hi again peeps. I am also in bit of a quandry about psu's. I am stuck between deciding on the isonic 600w modular. Some people have posted horror stories about them blowing up etc. My current system is a E4300 1.8 core 2, 2 ide hds, 9600gt and 2 optical drives. I'm going to perhaps upgrade to a quad core later on.

1) Will the iSONIC MEGAPOWER MODULAR 600WATT MAX be adequate ?

2) Whats the difference between the isonic and the omega ?

My other alternative is to fork out R700 on a 500w aerocool horsepower :D
 
hmmm... well, this is interesting, but i think they cheap because they don't have the same quality control as the more expensive brands, so that means that more "duds" get through... but don't they come with a warranty?
 
1 year standard warranty.
I am quite happy with mine, using it for more than 6 months now.
 
I've finally narrowed it down to these 2 :

1) http://www.aerocool.com.tw/psu/horsepower/horsepower-feature-500w.htm - R547 ex vat . 80+ but only 500w. Combined 36 amps on dual 12v rails. I can’t find a review on this at all.

2) http://www.coolermaster.com/products/product.php?language=en&act=detail&tbcate=22&id=45 – R606 ex vat. >70% efficiency. Combined 36 amps on 12v rails. Here are the reviews I found


The only negative review i've seen for the aerocool is this

Poor pfc at low load.
