Telkom installed my new phone line and enabled ADSL on Thursday, the line inside my room runs through a small telkom box and then into another small box with two outlets.
The first one is the filter and the one with two outlets is the splitter? I had a line originally but it was cancelled 2 years ago, could the first box be a fancy connector to connect the existing line to the new location in my room?
The second box (let me call it splitter here) has no indication of which one is phone and which one is ADSL, I plugged my modem into one of the socket and the line test SNR showed great signal and quality, but when I connected one of those GE cheap phone to the other outlet I can just hear noises.
