you know what......i feel so sorry for her family...not due to the fact that she died...hell that was probably the best thing for south Africa, but due to the fact that they are related to someone who cost the economy billions in foreign investment due to her monopoly game with telkom. I'm glad that ***** died, finally this country can move forward..... and it makes you think...which political alliance was she part of????????? 1 that was supposed to take this country forward???????? well she just took us several years backwards!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fact that Mbeki kept her where she was, and given the unending praise the ANC has piled on her since her death tells me that her incompetence was not entirely of her own doing. Perhaps the ANC wanted the situation to stay that way...

Sending such an email linking to the news article could be a surefire way of being labelled as a "force of darkness" by one or both of Jesse Duarte and Julius Mampoera.

Finally an honest and accurate mini-biography of Poison Ivy
Too old in my opinion based on medical reasons.
To add. This is not the first Minister or person in a high position in Government to die while in office. Perhaps the ANC are a generation or two behind the curve in the sense of placements. 71 years of age, lets be frank and with all due respect to people 70 years and over this position should have passed on to a younger person a long time ago. I blame the ANC for this by placing friends in office when truth be told she was unsuited for the job and past her retirement year by over a decade considering that woman may retire at the age of 60 in this country and I am sure she had the sufficient number of years in office to qualify for a decent pension.
Even Jacob Zuma in my opinion is too old for the position of President of South Africa considering he is 67 years old now, that by the time he may or may not leave office in 5 years time given that the ANC will win the National Election on the 22nd of April 2009, Mr Zuma will be Ivy's age or a little over at 72 years old, when his term in office comes to an end.
Not an ideal situation to have for South Africa considering that any form of Medical Condition can befall the ANC President given his advanced years.
In my opinion. 62 years of age is on the edge of what I would say reasonably safe to fill a term of office for 5 years at Presidential and/or Ministerial level. In other words Mr Zuma should in all likelihood be retiring from Office now, not joining.

Opportunity lost once again. Cost to country, incalculable.
They have read it. Just not something they want to discuss in her absence in public. It is in poor taste to talk negatively about someone when they are dead, but then it is not as if all the above was not said while she was alive.

+1. Personally I've always felt the best time to lead would be around 40-60. After that it becomes questionable. Nothing against older people, and I know some very sharp 65 year old people. But questions of health and losing touch with younger generations are just a fact of getting older.
Yes, agreed. Nothing against older people. In a short jump skip and a hop I might be there too.
For instance, my Dad's cousin is 85 or thereabouts, but her brain, mind and memory is that of a 21 year old. She is apsolutely amazing, the old girl is as sharp as a pin. Only thing she would say to me is that she wishes she was just 10 years younger (75).

True, but I think there are exceptions to this rule, and Poison Ivy is one such exception IMO.
Also, I think it is important that the media continue a while longer with news articles critical of Poison Ivy's reign as MoC - the reason being that the regime decided that it was OK to replace Poison Ivy [even before she died] with Manto - who is arguably even worse than Poison Ivy was as a minister.
If we are forced to have a Department of Communistications, and an MoC overlord, then the chosen MoC needs to be someone in touch with reality and qualified for the job, Manto does not make the grade, and neither did Poison Ivy - now is the time to make that clear to the ANC whilst it is still trying to cover up her abysmal reign with platitudes and running the flag at half mast.
Very good points, I never realised that Zuma was that old already - his cultural weapon that he keeps singing about must be almost dysfunctional by now.

Maybe the problem is the ANC's definition of "youth" since Julius Mampoera is someone 'still young enough to be in the ANCYL', so anyone who is not yet dead and buried is considered to be suitable ministerial material...Since when is age a factor? Look at the great job Mugabe is doing
