Free ADSL gaming bandwidth with Web Africa

This is a great move indeed. Expect a few other providers to follow suit soon ;)

WebAfrica has been very kind to us..too kind......almost like those lizzards in "V"

only joking. WebAfrica is going to shape our broadband future...i can feel it!!!!

I'm assuming this is their response to people who say they haven't made any 'innovative' products to add value to the general ADSL offerings.

Well done WA

Yeah, that's awesome... for Cape Town gamers. Remember, they only have an IPC link in Cape Town, meaning pings to their servers from outside Cape Town (IE JHB, for example) will be no less than around 40ms. So this is going to be great, but gamers in JHB are probably going to stick to IS's IS-Gaming, Vodacom's VGS, Telkom's SGS, Mweb's GameZone, and iBurst's iGame, who all host the bulk of their servers in the most practical place for a gameserver host: Gauteng - far more central..

Well done WA

now if only complaining worked with telkom

Seems like Afrihost and WebAfrica are the ones to go for guys!

/claps hands, well done WA!

I wonder if Webafrica could be in a position to do something about a local IW.net server for Modern Warfare 2?

If the game developers release the game with the capabilities to be hosted as in the case of COD4 then we'll definitely be looking at this for future implementation :)

A gaming section has been added to our forums including a thread for suggestions:

Great news!!

That bit about IP's and downloading patches is abit confusing thou! Surely your game would need to be up to date anyway!

Will the server be "Official" and will it show up in the list of available servers to play? Or will you need to enter the IP address manually as a favorite server?

I dont see any reason why the pings will be an issue, SAIX/iGame/IS CoD4 servers all run at 40-60 ping anyway, if you in JHB or Cape Town...

If WA are running a propper Tier 1 network, it should be very few hops to get to the gaming server... if you connect from JHB or CPT
