Ive been doing some reading... Dunno how many of us here know about this, unless you really troll the net non stop :p

I found many articles about FXAA (a post-processing AA method) that blows the traditional AA methods out of the water, except you dont have that huge performance hit... which is awesome!! Only downside is it HAS to be implemented by the dev (skyrim, new batman)

It would appear that FXAA has now been superseded by SMAA, which is another huge step forward in the AA technology but doesnt give that "blur" or "fussy" effect that FXAA does. And better, it uses even less power than FXAA!

Really interesting read, and a huge step forward for peope wanting better looking games (fussy people like me)

more eye candy for less please. i'll take one :)

yay a reply lol

I really expected people to be all over this... guess I was wrong

I suppose most people just load a game up and play and dont even change detail settings... noobs...

A chunk of people here run pretty much everything at max detail anyway, so why worry about stuff like that? :p

Won't happen, they will pay them not to use it. Less power means less need for high end cards which would = less sales.

Hmmm tinhat perhaps but ya :D

You suppose wrong - every gamer I know tweaks their settings to the max to get the best picture vs frame rate possible.

it could also mean more processing/GPU power gets allocated to make other stuff look better, so it is good

Erm, what do you download for this to work? Link?

you download this

extract dx9 or dx10 files (either one, not both) into the relevant game folder and disable all other AA you got going (both in-game and in nvidia/ati control panel)

off you go :)

Thanks, I'll give it a spin a bit later on ;)

Just tried in in AC:B and it does work pretty well.

My old 9600GT however takes about a 2-4FPS hit when using it and that makes it even slower than it already is. On a more powerful GPU I doubt you would even notice this!

You might want to give that thing a miss if you're playing something with punkbuster/VAC. They generally freak out if you play with modified DX. Wallhacks etc
